Family• I chose my family collage to show what a great

family I have…including my parents, brother, sister-in-law, nephew, best friend (and her husband that I couldn’t find a photo), and 3 god children. My best friend, Amy, is like the sister I never had. My family has helped me to become the person I am including being a teacher, good friend, and loving person. Their support and love for me helps me to support and love others. My family heritage includes British, German, Danish, and Irish…so we are a large and loud group when we get together.

Culture• I chose family Christmas as my artifact for culture

because it includes many important parts about my culture. My family is Episcopalian (Christian) so we celebrate Christmas by going to church on Christmas Eve then eating together. We also exchange presents and eat together again on Christmas day. We all have our favorite foods that MUST be included in the dinner. My family loves German desserts, especially if they have chocolate so cookies and other desserts are a big part of the meals! My mom’s side is all from the Midwest and so anything with potatoes and sweet corn in it are essential parts of any meal too.

Personality• I chose the Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point for one

artifact because I love riding roller coasters. I love the feeling when your stomach drops and then I giggle the rest of the ride. The joy that I get from riding a roller coaster represents how much I enjoy life and my outgoing personality.

• I also chose a purse that I knitted because I enjoy knitting and I am pretty good at it. My grandmother taught me when I was in elementary school and I love that I can continue this tradition in my family. I decided that I wanted to learn how to cable so I decided to knit this purse…not only does this represent my skill at knitting but also my personality of jumping right in to learn new things.

Future Ambitions and Dreams

• I chose the world on hands as a symbol for the travel that I want to do in the future…I think it would be amazing to teach in a foreign country some day. I also want to travel to as many countries around the world as possible, including all the continents…so far I’ve visited 3 continents, several countries, and been scuba diving in several seas. My family values differences and learning about the wider world...which they have passed on to me and I love to travel, meet new people, and learn about new cultures.

Life Experiences• I chose 2 images of important life experiences

that have shaped me into a confident person. The first is growing up at Girl Scout camp because it shaped who I am forever…I made the best friends who are taught me how to be a strong woman and are still the most amazing women I know today. The second image is from when I was in high school and my grandparents took me to the Amazon rainforest in Peru. I was the only one who was able to climb a 90 foot tree to the canopy and look out over the top of the world. It required persistence and strength to reach the top all on my own.
