Is the Health & Wellbeing of our children really important?

It has been estimated that 1 in 7 school-age children has a mental health problem - like anxiety, depression or challenging behaviour - but only 1 in 4 gets the help they need. Similar rates have been found in early childhood too.

It can be tricky recognising whether children need help. Sometimes families, teachers and staff might not know what

help is available or how to get it. In some cases, it may be difficult to access mental health services in their area.

The good news is that KidsMatter was developed to promote positive mental health and wellbeing in children, and to help prevent and identify mental health problems early in life.

All students are expected to attend KidsMatter Day and we look forward to seeing you there! Uniform: The uniform (dress code) policy for 2013. Some of the notable changes were:

Sports shorts (only P.E classes)

Black leather footwear for all students

Timboon P-12 School bag (all students must have one by 2014)

Correct school uniform The school dress code (uniform) policy is set out by the school council. Please assist us by ensuring your child has the correct school uniform and If you require further clarification or support regarding the uniform policy please contact me at the school on Ph: 5598 3381 Parent Teacher Interviews: Thursday 19

SEAN FITZPATRICK ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL VCE Update This week, Year 11 students were given their subject selection sheets for 2014 classes. Students need to book an interview time for Thursday 5

th September, to discuss their plans for 2014.

The interview booking sheet is at the General Office. Students may return their subject selection to the Office prior to this interview, or bring it with them. It’s a busy time of year for our Year 12s, completing coursework and SACs, as well as considering their options for 2014. We provide strong support through the process of applying for Tertiary Education, with staff ‘on hand’ each lunchtime to assist /troubleshoot if needed. “Timely applications” close 27th September. The Special Entry Access Scheme is for applicants who have experienced educational disadvantage. Due to our rural location, all our students are eligible for this. They may also be eligible in other categories. SEAS applications close on 8th October. Scholarship applications made through VTAC close on 18th October. Students considering TAFE courses should contact the institutions directly for information about Information sessions and the direct application process. VCE / VCAL tops $75 Orders are currently being taken. Full payment must be made at the time of ordering (cash/cheque, or details of BPAYment/ Direct Debit). Please take order forms to the Office. Orders close Monday 16th September 9:00am SHARP. There is a minimum order number, so late orders will not be taken. There may be another order placed later in the year/early 2014 if there are sufficient numbers, however this is not guaranteed. Order forms available at the Office, sizing chart on the back of the form. A couple of sample sizes in Mrs. Nich’s office. We personalise the current Year 11 student tops for their Year 12 year with screen printing. The design process will commence shortly, with tops collected mid-term 4. The screen printing is an additional cost and will be calculated based on the design and number of orders. JULIE NICHOLSON

Year Six Chicken Report! Hey, I am Mr Miyagi and these are my friends; Larry Joe & Achmed. We are all best friends. Our awesome owners are Jakey Booboos, Charlie Chopsticks and James McGregor (I think that's their names) Well, anyway, Larry is the oldest, Achmed is the most sensible and I am the Homer Simpson of the group (the crazy one). It was so funny to watch Achmed emerge from his egg! He was so happy, he started disco dancing. Larry, well he just sleeps all

day but parties all night. Me on the other hand, I like climbing up everything that I see, including Jakey Boo Boo's clothing. So, all in all, we all best bros. THIS IS MR. MIYAGI SIGNING OFF, Written by Jake Matthews, Edited by James McGuire, Inspiration supplied by Charlie Trotter

I, Eggplant Populopulous the 3

rd and my buddy Frank arrived

late Sunday night. We started looking for our friends, Sebastian and Colin, but it didn’t seem like anybody was home. All that was there were two lone eggs. What a wonderful surprise to us that late Monday morning, Sebastian arrived all wet and slimy but the question still remained, where was Colin? Colin had a small hole but he must of got tired and gone to sleep because he didn’t arrive until somewhere around Monday night Tuesday morning. Then the next morning, four unbelievably beautiful, loving and caring mothers came and went crazy over our beauty. By: Jennifer, Amy, Melinda and Laura.

PREP - 2

The A wing was buzz with excitement last Thursday

as the P-2 children arrived at school dressed as their favourite book character. They had a wonderful time

dressing up and trying to work out the character

their friends were dressed as. Everyone loved reading with the older children in the Read In at the

library and saying farewell to Cliquot.
