Tim Burton is mostly known for directing and producing dark, quirky gothic styles of film; all ofwhich are influenced by his artwork.

Timothy ‘Walter’ Burton was born in California onAugust 25th 1958 and studied at Burbank High School.Although he wasn’t a very good student, he foundpleasure in painting, drawing and watching films.Burton was heavily influenced by Roald Dahl and DrSuess. After graduating from High School, he attendedCalifornia Institute of the Arts to study characteranimation where he made two shorts called Stalk of The Celery Monster and King and Octopus. The shortThe Celery Monster attracted Walt Disney Studios andoffered him an apprenticeship at the studio. He workedas an animator, storyboard artist and concept animator in films such as The Fox and The Hound, TheBlack Cauldron and Tron. However, his style differeddramatically from Walt Disney and no longer worked there to focus on solo projects. When filming PlanetOf the Apes, he met Helena Bonham Carter whom ofwhich he now has 2 children with.

The Nightmare Before Christmas.
The Nightmare Before Christmas is a stop motion fantasy musical directed by Henry Selick(who also directed the film Coraline) and was written and produced by Tim Burton.
The film tells the story of Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King from “Halloween Town" who opens a portal to Christmas Town" and decides to celebrate the holiday, with some dastardly and comical consequences.Jack
Skellington has also
appeared in other films.
Facts The Making Of Nightmare Before Christmas
• Each shot had 24 frames to a second, meaning they had to pose characters 24 times for each second of the completed film.
• One minute of the film took a week to shoot.
• The film therefore took 3 years to complete.
• More than 400 different Jack Skellington heads were used.
• The sets were built in minature but used lighting as if it were a real set.
• Danny Elfman composed songs without a script.
Vincent
Vincent is one of Burton’s most popular short filmsAt approximately 6 minutes. It is based on a 7 year Old boy called Vincent Malloy who pretends to beLike the actor Vincent Price (who narrates the film).The film ends with Vincent feeling terrified of being tortured by what ‘goes on’ in his make-believe world, quoting "The Raven" as he falls to the floor in frailty, believing himself to be dead.

Burton made a guest appearance within the short film Vampires kiss/Blood inside directed byDerek Frey.
