A Note to you,The associations semi -annual meeting was held on October 10, 2011 at First Baptist Church, Irvine. We had agood turnout with 19 churches represented and 121 people registered. Thank you, ladies from First Baptist ,for an excellent job of food preparation. Rev. Jesse Kline of Northside Baptist Church in the annual sermonchallenged us to be doers of the Word and not just hearers. He also preached on the importance of doctrine intodays world. Doctrine has always been a top priority in our association since it was founded in 1823 and mustremain so today.Food For Thought:In 1822 a meeting was called for the messengers f r om M t. Gilead , Boggs Fork , Boone's Creek and Fir st Baptist

Church of Lexington to meet at Cross Plains (now Athens). The messenge r s agr eed that it was desirable toor ganize a new Association . Messengers from M t. Gilead, Boggs Fork, Hickman and B oone's Creek met at Mt.Gilead Church. The constitu tion, as pr eviously adopted by the chur ches was read again and sanctioned by themessenge r s as their constitution . They signed and dated " The Ce rtificat e of the Or ganization of the BoonesCreek Baptist Association, M ay 28, 1823." The first 2/3 of their constitution was concerned with doctrine. Belowis listed that part of their constitution, which is just as fitting for today as it was 188 years ago.1st. We take the Holy Bible , the Old and New Test ament as the only rule of faith and practice in re ligion , and are united in the belief of the following doctrines , as contained in the scriptures , viz,: That the r e is one God , and one Mediator b etween God and Man , the ManJesus Christ ; and in the Godhead , are Father, Son and Holy Ghost.2nd . That mankind , without exception , are in their natural state , sinners, totall y destitute to holiness , and are entirel y helpless in them-selves .3r d. That fa ith in Jesus Ch r ist is the instrument of ju stification accor ding to the Sc r iptur es, and is the gi f t of God and is ordin arilywrought in the hear t by the s pirit , by and with the word heard and re ad.

4th . That sal vation is wholly of the f ree and so ver eign gr ace of God , through the atonement, rig hteousness and mediation o f JesusChrist b y sanctifying inf luence of the Hol y Spi r it, and the belief of the Truth and that th e Saints will p er severe thr ough gr ace to glor y.5 th. That there will b e a r esurr ection of the de ad, both of the just and unjust , and a general jud gment ; that the righteous sh all be recei vedinto e verlasting ha ppines s and that the wick ed shall be d r iven into e ver lasting punishment.6 th . We hold that the visi ble Ch ur ch of Ch rist is compos ed of such as profess sa ving faith and tho se onl y who exhibit credible e videnceof faith in Jesus Ch r ist should be b a ptized agr eea bly to His command b y being imme r sed in water in th e name of th e Father , of the Sonand of the Holy Ghost , and th at it is the dut y and privilege of such to celebr ate the Lord 's Supper .7 th. Notwithstanding children who are not capable of prof essing faith in Christ ar e not f it subjects for baptism and the Lord 's Supper ,according to the Gospel , yet we hold it our duty to bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord .8 th . We believe in the Di vine a ppointment of th e Chris tian Sa bbath , scripturally called th e Lord's Day, and th at it is the dut y of Chr istians to sanctify it to the service of God , accord ing to the example of primiti ve saints. We belie ve the moral l aw of God is a rule of obedience f or all m en through fai th and that the Gospel should b e preached to all men and all that hear ar e commanded to b elieve it.9 th . This Asso ciation regards th e inde pendence of the chur ches inviolable an d disclaims any r ight to exer cise power in the government

of them , and decl ar es her onl y aim and intentio n to be is to as sist, advise a nd encourage the p r opagation of tr uth and cultivation of pr actical piety.Statements 4 and 6 are true to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 that no saving grace is conveyed by either

baptism or the Lords Supper. That both are ordinances and not sacraments.
