Autonomous driving vehicles will fundamentally
change the future of mobility. The car driver
will soon be able to choose in more and more
situations whether he wants to drive himself or
leave the steering to the vehicle. As steering
experts we work with our customers to bring
autonomous driving safely onto the road.
For example, we are developing steer-by-wire
concepts in which steering commands are
transmitted electrically like in airplanes. This
technology allows the steering function to be
integrated in entirely new vehicle architectures.
And in the not too distant future, when in some
driving situations the steering wheel is no longer
needed, this technology allows the steering wheel
to be stowed away or extend back out again. This
allows the driver to actually use the space in front
of him for different things altogether.
