Dear Parents and Friends
NAPLAN
The National Assessment Program – Literacy & Numeracy
(NAPLAN) tests for 2017 will take place next week. As mentioned
last week, our teachers and children have already been engaged in
some preparation and trial activities, which they will continue to take
part in, at the beginning of this term. If you have a child in Grades 3 or
5 please ensure they eat well and get plenty of sleep over the week.
Parent/student Teacher Conferences
In a couple of weeks we are holding the first of our Parent/Teacher
conferences for 2017. We have selected two evenings, Tuesday 16th
May and Thursday 18th May. Since 2015 some of our meeting have
included the student. We are continuing, 2017, to run them as follows:
o Foundation: Parent and teacher only
o Years 1 and 2: Students complete self assessment and
students are given the option of attending
o Years 3 and 4: Students complete self assessment and are
strongly encouraged to include student.
o Years 5 and 6: Students must attend as a key to
transitioning to secondary where three way conferences are
most common practice.
Remember that we do understand that one model does not fit all. It
may not be suitable for all students above Year 1 attend. But also
remember that the conferences are to discuss your child’s progress
thus far in 2017. Any other topics of discussion should be done by
making an alternative appointment.
o Letter of information will be sent home this week.
Including how to book in
What the self assessment is all about
o Booking by sheets in foyer, phone or email are all
acceptable methods of booking.

ANZAC Service
What a wonderful morning we had for our ANZAC Service on Friday.
I would like to thank our very special speaker Darryl Kerslake.
Darryl, Roman and Damien also attended after assembly and talked
the students through the large amount of artefacts they, and others
brought to school. They commented on the service describing it as
very student friendly. They were amazed at the way our students sat
still and absorbed the information. We had eleven senior students
involved in the service, from laying the wreath to reciting the Ode of
Remembrance. Our choir sang three beautiful songs. Thank you to
the many parents and relatives who also attended.
Production Update
Things are on the go with Time Warped. A reminder that its on
September 12th and 13th. We have just about chosen all the songs and
dances, we will be running senior role audition over the next couple
of weeks. We have a team of very hard working parents and teachers
on board. Fleur Green is our main parent contact for anything
parenty!
Education Week
Open for Business – all week! Instead of the ‘traditional’ open morning
or afternoon we have decided to throw open the doors all week.
Come and watch your children in class, in PE, Science, Art, etc!
Remember though, it’s a ‘normal’ week and the children will be doing
what they normally do.
Open Night - You are invited to our Open night on Wednesday 24th
May between 6:30 and 8:00pm
Visit all classrooms and look at the work the children have been
doing this semester. When you visit each classroom answer a simple
Curriculum question about the work on display. Place your entry in
the box in the foyer to have a chance to win our Curriculum Hamper.
Some children will be performing throughout the night and the choir
will perform at 7:45 in the multi-purpose room to conclude the
evening.

Mother’s Day Friday
To celebrate Mother’s Day, we will be hosting a ‘Mum’s Marvellous
Morning Tea’ on the morning of Friday May 12th. Children are invited
to walk you into their classroom 8:45 – 9am so they can show you
their work on display around the room. (During Education Week
May 22 – 26th, there is time for parents to come into classrooms to
see their child/children’s work and watch the learning process.)
At 9.00am, you are invited to follow us into assembly where you will
be treated to tea/coffee and a cupcake, and a performance from the
school choir.
Have a great week everybody,
Matthew
You may have seen the name "FlexiBuzz" and
noticed a change in logo when you visit your
Tiqbiz app or desktop site. This is the result of
the recent purchase of Tiqbiz by InLoop Pty Ltd,
an Australian tech company with leading brands
including Flexischools.
We will be continuing to use the app to
communicate with you and FlexiBuzz will retain
all of the features that were available with
Tiqbiz.
To ensure you have the most up-to-date version
of the app we would recommend running the
app update as soon as possible.
Please check that your child’s uniform is
appropriately named. We have had several reports of
lost jumpers. Can you please check that your child
has not picked up another students jumper by
mistake, and return as soon as possible.
Thank you.
