YEARLING CLASS – for dogs 12 months and under 18 months on the day of the show. CANADIAN BRED CLASS shall be for dogs born in Canada, Champions in any country excluded. BRED BY EXHIBITOR shall be for dogs owned and handled by the breeder. The handler must be the owner/co-owner AND breeder/co-breeder. The owner/breeder must handle the dog at the class level, but need not handle the dog for further awards. OPEN CLASS – for all dogs. JR. VETERANS CLASS shall be for dogs 7 to 10 years of age. Spayed and neutered dogs MAY compete. SR. VETERANS CLASS shall be for dogs 10 years of age and over. Spayed and neutered dogs MAY compete. SPECIALS ONLY – for any dog that has a recorded CKC Registration or ERN and has attained the required points for Championship status. Note: A Listed dog may be moved to Specials Only class after the closing of entries, provided the CKC Individual or ERN was received prior to the first day of the show. The request to move a class dog to the Specials Only Class must be received by the Show Secretary one hour prior to the scheduled start of the show for which the dog is being moved up to. EXHIBITION ONLY – catalog listing only. No dog entered in this class can compete for any regular class, however may be entered and compete in any non-regular class The following Non-Regular classes will be offered: BABY PUPPY CLASS – shall be for puppies 3 months and under 6 months of age. The winners of these classes will NOT compete for points. To be judged following the completion of the regular Specialty classes. ALTERED OPEN CLASS – for all surgically neutered/spayed dogs. Points may not be carried over into these classes from the regular competition judging. CKC Altered championship points will be awarded to Winners Dog and Winners Bitch. Classes will be judged immediately following the Regular breed classes. STUD DOG: for any sire and two or more of his get. Sire and get need not be owned by the same person. Class to be judged on the merits of the get.

BRACE: for two dogs, judged as an identical pair, shown by one person on one leash, do not need identical ownership.

TEAM: (National Specialty Only): for four dogs, judged as an identical foursome, shown by one person, The following Unofficial classes will be offered: EXTENDED GENERATION STUD DOG: (National Specialty Only). Class must be comprised of a minimum of three successive generations and a maximum of four successive generations with a total entry of no more than three (3) get. (Example – the stud dog, his son/daughter, their son/daughter). Do not need identical ownership.

EXTENDED GENERATION DAM: (National Specialty Only): same as Extended Generation Stud Dog, only for a dam and her offspring, etc not need identical ownership. LURE COURSING CLASS: for any dog with CKC, ASFA or AKC Field Ch. Points.

RACING CLASS: for any dog with CWA, NAWRA, WRA, or NOTRA racing championship points. Dogs entered in the non-regular classes must also be entered in a regular class or for Exhibition Only, except for Stud and Dam whose progeny MUST be entered in a regular class. Spayed and neutered dogs may be entered but must also be entered in the Altered Classes, Veteran Classes, or Exhibition Only. PUPPY SWEEPSTAKES: (National Specialty Only) Open to all puppies 3 months and under 18 months of age. Must be entered in a regular class in the NWCC National Specialty or in the case of 3 to 6 month puppies, must also be entered in Baby Puppy classes in the specialty.. Puppies will be judged in the following age classes, divided by sex: Baby Puppy (3 to under 6 months), Jr. Puppy (6 to under 9 months), Sr. Puppy (9 to under 12 months), Juvenile (12 to under 18 months). The winner from each class will be brought together for Best in Sweepstakes. VETERAN SWEEPSTAKES: (National Specialty Only) Open to all veterans 7 years of age and over. Must be entered in a regular class or for Exhibition Only at the National Specialty. Veterans will be judged in the following age classes, divided by sex: 7 to under 10 years; 10 to under 12 years; 12 years and over. The winner of each class will be brought together for Best in Sweepstakes. Awards – 40% of entry fees will be awarded proportionately depending on the number of entrants in the class. The remaining 25% will be awarded to Best in Sweeps with the club retaining 35% for expenses. JUNIOR HANDLING: (offered at all three specialties) For persons aged 4 to 18. All dogs handled by Juniors must be entered in one of the regular classes, or for Exhibition Only, but need not be owned by the Junior or his/her family. Rosettes will be offered for Best Handler and ribbons for 1st thru 4

th with Participant ribbons for all Peewee entrants. Entrants need to

register with Show Secretary 1 hour before judging starts. Judges to be announced. Please note that effective January 1, 2016, in accordance with Section 3.4.1 of the Junior Handling Rules & Regulations, Junior Handlers will be required to apply to CKC Head Office for a Junior Handling Number. This trophy is to remain in the possession of NWCC until such time as one owner has won the trophy three times.. Janet and Bo Juzkiw offer a perpetual trophy for Best of Breed Altered in memory of Ch (Alt.) Dauntae's Our Little Rascal, Am.Can.CD and Am.Can.Ch. Devonair Whippets offers a perpetual trophy for the winner of the Lure Coursing Class in honour of all whippets who have proven themselves on the lure coursing field and in the show ring. This trophy is to remain in the possession of the NWCC until such time as one owner has won the trophy 3 times LMWA PERPETUAL TROPHIES: *Best of Breed – in memory of Bonnie Goebel, Ragtime Whippets, offered by LMWA *Best Opposite – Terrace Hill Perpetual Trophy, offered by LMWA *Best Veteran – in memory of Ch. Fireworks Spontaneous Combustion, FCH, DPC, TRPX, PR, OTR, CR, offered by Fireworks Whippets *BOB Altered –in memory of Ch.Alt.Ch. Ragtime The Dark Half, offered by Fireworks Whippets.

CHAMPIONS AND CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS: Section 20.2. A dog awarded WINNERS at a championship show held under these Dog Show Rules shall be credited with a number of championship points (ranging from 0-5) and the determination of the number of championship points to be credited to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be as provided hereunder.

Section 2. The schedule to be employed in the determination of the number of points to be allocated to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be as follows:

RULES GOVERNING THIS SHOW: All exhibitors, handlers and patrons are expected to know and abide by the CKC Show Rules. 1. The Club reserves the right to remove any person from the show. The Superintendent shall have full control of these shows which will be governed by CKC rules. 2. Any dog excused by the superintendent or Veterinarian for any reason shall not compete for the balance of the show. 3. The show committee will use due care and diligence for the welfare of dogs and exhibitors but will not be responsible for, or assume any liability in the event of accident or other misfortune, to either dogs, exhibitors or patrons. 4. A judge or any person participating in any capacity at a Dog Show held under CKC rules shall not be subjected to any indignity of any kind during the progress of the show and it shall be the duty and obligation of the Club holding the show to see that this rule is effectively carried out. The Show Superintendent shall promptly report to the CKC any infringement of the rules, and the Discipline Committee shall have the power to take such action as it deems fit on receipt of a report indicating that this rule has been violated. 5. Exhibitors are solely responsible for the conduct or actions of their animals while they are on the show grounds. 6. Dogs must be ready for judging. The Club will not be responsible for and is not obligated to provide any service for notifying owners or agents of class judging. No ring shall be held up waiting for exhibitors or handlers. 7. The owner of a dog entered in these shows is entirely responsible for any error in entering his/her dog regardless of how or by whom the entry was made. Please print legibly; The Show Secretary will not be responsible for errors in the catalog as a result of their inability to interpret your entry form 8. Dogs must be on leash at all times on the show grounds. Crates/xpens are allowed at ringside but must be kept 15 feet from the ring. Exhibitors must clean up after their dogs. 9. If because of civil disturbance or other acts beyond the control of the club, it is impossible to open or complete the show, no entries will be refunded. 10. Entry fees will not be refunded in the event a dog is absent, disqualified, excused or barred from competition by the Judge or by action of the Show Committee. 11. In payment of entry fees, the tendering of NSF cheques shall be considered non-payment of entry fees and is punishable by disciplinary action and cancellation of awards. A collection fee of $25.00 will be added to the amount of any returned cheque.

EXTRACTS FROM CKC DOG SHOWS RULES CHAPTER 4.1.3 – JUDGES# A judge officiating at a show under these rules shall not be subjected to any indignities of any kind during the progress of the show, and it shall be the duty and obligation of the club holding the show to see this rule is effectively enforced. CHAPTER 8 – ENTRIES AND ENTRY FEES# Section 8.3.1 Every dog entered in Championship Shows held under these rules must be registered, have an Event Registration Number, eligible for registration with the CKC or have a CKC Miscellaneous Class Certification number issued by the CKC Chief Registrar. If a dog is not registered individually in the CKC it may be entered at a show, held under these rules, as a “listed” dog, provided a) It is a CKC listed breed b) If born in Canada, is eligible for individual registration c) If foreign born and owned, an Event Registration Number or CKC registration number is obtained from the CKC within 30 days of the first show entered. A listing fee of $8.95 must accompany the entry of a “listed” dog at a show held under these rules.

Section 8.2: INCOMPLETE ENTRIES Entry forms which are incomplete or those that contain incorrect information after the closing date of entries will be void and under no circumstances can changes be made. Any dog taking a win resulting from such an entry will result in the wins being cancelled. Section 8.6.2: DISHONOURED CHEQUE Tendering of a dishonored cheque or credit card in payment of entry fees shall be considered non-payment of entry fees. Clubs may refuse to accept entries from any exhibitor who have been known to tender dishonoured cheques in payment of entry fees unless such entries are accompanied by a money order, cash or certified cheque. CHAPTER 14 – DISQUALIFICATION# Section 14.1.4: A dog once disqualified for any reason at a Championship show held under these rules cannot again be shown or entered at a show held under these rules unless and until said dog has been reinstated by the CKC. All awards earned by a dog shown in violation of this section will be cancelled by the CKC and the owner of said dog is subject to disciplinary action. Note: for any further information on reinstatement refer to Chapter 14, Section 3 of the Conformation Show Rules and Regulations CHAPTER 5 – SHOW OFFICIALS Section 5.1.5: A show-giving club will be held responsible during the show for the conduct of exhibitors and spectators. Any person acting in an abusive or objectionable manner must be removed from the show on complaint to the Show Superintendent. 8.2.5 – An error in the class, date of birth or sex of the dog may be amended on the entry form up to ONE hour PRIOR to the start of the show. 8.9.3 – When one or more all-breed and/or Specialty shows are held on the same day, in the same venue, the request for moving class dogs to specials MUST be made a minimum of one hour prior to the scheduled start of the all breed or Specialty show. All entries must be complete, signed and must be submitted on the current official CKC entry form (back side of form not required). Entries submitted in any other size or format will be rejected. Telephone entries are not accepted. Incomplete or conditional entries, entries received without full entry fees or valid credit card numbers, or entries received by the Show Secretary after the advertised closing date/time will not be accepted. There will be no refund on overpayment or duplicate entries. Please type or print legibly in black ink, especially when scanning. CANADIAN KENNEL CLUB NON MEMBER PARTICIPATION FEE (April 2011) A non member participation fee will be charged to a resident of Canada who is a non-member of the CKC. The non member participation fee is paid in any year a title is earned and covers all titles and dogs owned by that individual. In order for the title to be awarded, the non member will have a choice to either become a CKC member or pay the non member participation fee. Failure to comply within 30 days of notification will result in the title being withheld and the dog cannot be moved up to the next level. The fee applies only to dogs wholly owned by non-member residents of Canada and is not applicable to CKC members.

ATTENTION U.S. EXHIBITORS: EVENT REGISTRATION NUMBER (Foreign Born/Foreign Owned Dog) For the purpose of entering CKC events to obtain Championship status and Obedience Titles and Degrees, individual registration is no longer required for foreign born, foreign owned dogs. Foreign exhibitors may apply for an ERN (Event Registration Number). This number MUST be applied for within 30 days of entering first CKC event to avoid cancellation. Exhibitors may submit a photocopy of dogs’ foreign Registration Certificate and the appropriate fee along with a letter of request to the CKC. (This ERN number replaces a CKC Individual Registration Number for entering CKC events ONLY.) BORDER CROSSING – A rabies certificate is required to bring a dog into Canada and upon return to the USA. Government regulations require a certificate and it must be dated at least 30 days prior for re-entry into the USA.. This is a long weekend in both Canada and the USA which means the border is extremely busy this time of year – allow plenty of time for border crossing. A valid Enhanced Driver’s License, Passport, Passport Card, or Nexus Card is required to cross the border. To avoid delays, please ensure you have all the necessary documents with you on your trip to Canada. Current exchange rates between Canadian & US dollars have been fluctuating considerably. Personal cheques drawn on a US bank will be accepted, however they must be payable for the full amount of the entry fee(s).

ENTRIES CLOSE: Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 12:00 noon AGREEMENT I (we) acknowledge that I (we), all exhibitors, handlers and patrons, know and abide by the “CKC Dog Show Rules”, and that I am (we are) familiar with their content. I (we) agree that the Clubs holding this show has the right to refuse this entry for cause, which the Club shall deem to be sufficient. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry and of the holding of the Show and of the opportunity to have the dog judged and to win prize money, ribbons or trophies, I (we) agree to hold the National Whippet Club of Canada and Lower Mainland Whippet Association, their members, directors, governors, officers, agents, superintendents or show secretary and the owner or lessor of the premises and any employees of the aforementioned parties, harmless from any claim for loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused directly or indirectly to any person or thing by the act of a dog while in or upon the show premises or grounds or near any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and liability for any such claim, and I (we) further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss of a dog by disappearance, theft, death or otherwise, and from any claim for damage or injury to the dog, whether such loss, disappearance, theft, damage or injury be caused or alleged to be caused by the negligence of the Clubs or any of the parties aforementioned, or by the negligence of any other person, or any other cause or causes. I (we) hereby assume the sole responsibility for and agree to indemnify and save the aforementioned parties harmless from any and all loss and expense (including legal fees) by reason of the liability imposed by law upon any of the aforementioned parties because of bodily injuries, including death at any time resulting from, sustained by any person or persons, including myself (ourselves), or on account of damage to property, arising out of or in consequence of my (our) participation in this show, howsoever such injuries, death or damage to property may be caused and whether or not the same may have been caused and whether or not the same may have alleged to have been caused by negligence of the aforementioned parties or any of their employees or agents, or any other person.
