TO THE UNBELIEVER:

The Gospel is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes.

Rom 1:16

The Gospel changes the two sources of behaviour:

Rom 6:11-12 Count yourselves dead to sin and

alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore, do not let sin reign in

your body…

2 Cor 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has

gone and the new has come.

Jn 8:11I do not condemn you. Now go and leave your

life of sin.

1 Cor 6Do you not know that your body is the

temple of the Holy Spirit? Therefore, do not be sexually immoral. You

were bought at a price.

Prov 4:23Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do

flows from it.

Always pursues happiness

Augustine: “How sweet it was for me to be rid of those fruitless joys I

had once feared to lose. You drove them from me and took their place,

You, the true, Sovereign Joy.”

Chalmers: It is seldom any of our sins can be made to disappear by mental determination. But, what

cannot be destroyed may be displaced.

The heart is so constituted that only way to dispose of an old affection is

by the expulsive power of a new affection. It is only by receiving over

and over the glory of the gospel

that the heart, brought under the mastery of this one great and predominant affection, can be delivered from the tyranny of

former desires.

Thus, the more received is the doctrine of grace, the more it shall

lead to godliness. So then, try every legitimate method of opening your hearts to His extravagant grace”.
