Life Games

• All games have animportant and probablydecisive influence on thedestinies of the playersunder ordinary socialconditions.

• But some offer moreopportunities than othersfor life long careers andare more likely to involverelatively innocentbystanders.

• This group may beconveniently called LifeGames.

Kick Me

• This is played by men

whose social manner is

equivalent to wearing a

sign that reads “ Please

don’t kick me”.

Threadbare• The corresponding

game among women in“threadbare”.

• Often genteel, they takepains to be shabby.

• They see to it that theirearnings for goodreasons never rise muchabove the abstinencelevel.

Threadbare• If they have a windfall,

there are alwaysenterprising young menwho will help them getrid of it, giving them in areturn shares in aworthless businesspromotion orsomething equivalent.

• Colloquially, such awoman is called“Mother’s Friend”.

Threadbare• She is always ready to

give judicious Parentaladvice and livingvicariously on theexperience of others.

• Their WAHM is a silentone, and only theirdemeanor of bravestruggle suggests “Whydoes it always happento me?”.

Threadbare

• An interesting form of

WAHM occurs in well

adapted people who

reap increasing rewards

and successes, often

beyond their own

expectations.

Threadbare

• Here the WAHM may

lead to serious and

constructive thinking,

and to personal growth,

in the best scene, if it

takes the form “ what

did I really do to

deserve this?”
