We were lucky to have a glorious, sunny autumn day which meant many of the contestants were happy to blob around the domain after their event. I would like to thank Annette and Pat for their ongoing organisation of this event; it is a great fundraiser for the school and the other recipients. We have another fundraiser starting today- we have been given the opportunity to on-sell some old chairlift chairs from Whakapapa Ski Area. I have been badgering Ruapehu Alpine Lifts for about 12 months to get a chair for our school play area, as a swing seat, and when they replied they offered some as a fundraiser. So, please spread the word and see if we can sell these. CLASSROOM KORERO – Senior Room We’re running away to join the circus! Last Friday, the whole school came together and made three juggling balls each, out of balloons and rice. The colourful balls took a while to make and the older students worked well to assist the younger children. We were all so excited to have our first Circus Training day with the fabulous Pixie on Tuesday. Pixie has worked in the circus in the past and has kindly offered to come in to teach our tamariki how to juggle, ride the unicycles, balance on the rolla-bollas and learn all sorts of fun and creative skills. The senior class started off by learning how to juggle one ball, then two and finally 3. I was so impressed with the persistence of the students as juggling with 3 balls is not an easy feat! By Whaea Jessie Smith. Home-made juggling balls HARVEST FESTIVAL- This coming Monday On Monday the 13 th May the school will be having their yearly Harvest Festival hosted by the year eight students. We have organised lots of fun activities. We ask if you can bring along your giant pumpkin if you have managed to grow one this year. There will also be a competition for the biggest produced fruit or vegetable and make your own jewellery out of flowers or vegetables.

By The Year Eights MOBILE DENTAL CLINIC We are so happy to have the mobile dental clinic visit us for the first time. We have worked quite hard behind the scenes to try to get it to come here, rather than us travel one family at a time into town for their appointments. It is lovely to have dental nurses, Ricky and Katie spreading their positivity in the staffroom and keeping the experience for our tamariki a happy one.
