Hello and welcome to Pontrilas, round 3 of the 2015 Thor British Youth Nationals.

I can’t believe we are halfway through our amazing season already, the first two rounds were very very good, every rider in every class has been exceptional, the racing first class and like always we are here to help.

Round 2 at Cusses Gorse was superb, many thanks to Justin and his team for making the event run so smooth.

Pontrilas is a hard packed circuit, with natural hills and once again viewing is awesome as you can wan-der around and view from many points of the track. Some of you may know the track well and some of you may not, take your time in practice to get to know the layout and most of all enjoy it.

Part of our priority here at RHL Activities is to en-courage new riders into our championship, and this year we have nearly 40% of riders who are racing here today for the first time at British Championship level, we welcome you guys with open arms and the same for the established riders who have experienced the excitement of the series over the last few seasons.

Since our very first British Youth National in 2012 the growth for the championship is very impressive, we have grown over 300% with registered riders and I would like to thank each and everyone of you for your amazing support - and we will continue to grow.

Lets hope its a great weekend for all, and I hope you enjoy your time with us at Pontrilas.

With round 1 of the Thor British Youth Nationals

now in the history books, round 2 had a huge

amount to live up to - it sure did and in style.

Every class was brimming with exceptional British Youth

talent, six blocks of exciting racing in two amazing days.

Maximum man Alexander Brown has lost his unbeaten

streak, he crashed on the start in race 1, putting pay to

his 100% win 125 class record and in the final moto of

the weekend he was beaten to the checkers by runner

up Oli Benton who has given it his all to catch the flying

Scotsman over the first two rounds of the championship.

Callum Green topped out the podium in third with Dee-

Jay Walker and Charlie Cole rounding off the top 5.

The Junior class is packed with future British

championship talent, over the six races it produced

three different race winners. Vinnie Guthrie, Alfie

Jones and Charlie Heyman. But it was the lad with the

mohawk, little Vinnie Guthrie who produced the speed

and consistency which enabled him to take the overall

victory. Alfie Jones was impressive all weekend in second

and Raife Broadley who was rippin on his Husqvarna in

third. Morgan Evans and round 1 winner Charlie Heyman

finished in fifth and sixth respectively.

CUSSES GORSE PRODUCES EPIC ROUND 2 RACE ACTION

With the track in prime condition thanks to the digger skills of Justin

Barclay and his sidekick Tim Rees, the racing on the BW85’s was

exceptional.

The racing was close, real close with four different race winners in

six races. After two days of racing, Tom Grimshaw came out on top,

1 point ahead of Dylan Woodcock in second, consistency was the

key for Tom even though Dylan won three out of the six races. Harry

Kimber and Callum Mitchell showed awesome speed to win races

with Harry doing enough to finish in third. Callum and Sam Price

chased hard to finish in fourth and fifth.

Quite possibly the most exciting racing of the weekend was in the

SW85 class, you could easily pick ten or so riders to win a race and

possibly the championship. After six hard fought motos, Kacey Hird

took the honours by 2 points from hard charging Eddie Jay Wade.

These two riders battled it out in every race, just thrilling to watch.

Lewis Hall actually won the first race but a zero point score in moto

4 put paid to a podium finish. Preston Williams who rides with the

famous 377 number plate, did a great job to stay ahead of Louie

Kessell and Bobby Bruce to land the final podium spot.

Just like Alexander Brown in the 125 two stroke class, Jordan Eccles

just missed out on a 100% race win card after crashing at the start of

race 1 of the British Open class. Jordan put that well and truly behind

him in the next 5 races and ripped to an impressive overall victory.

George Grigg-Pettitt took advantage of Eccles race 1 misfortune

and took a fine win in moto 1 and third overall. Luke Smith put in an

formidable consistent ride for a runner up spot. Robbie Dowson and

Joe Hodgson both put in a fine ride to finish in fourth and fifth.

Round 3 of the 2015 Thor British Youth Nationals will take place on

May 13/14 at Pontrilas, a track full of UK motocross history and a

circuit which will produce yet another round of exceptional Thor

British Youth Nationals racing.

Led by Jeffrey Herlings, Grand Prix

stars dominated the action at a sun

blessed Hawkstone Park today. The

Dutch ace dominated all three MX2

motos and won comfortably, but

it must be recorded that Britain’s

own Max Anstie (Monster Energy

DRT Kawasaki) also had the legs

on the rest of the field and gave

everything to try and match the

flying Herlings and closed the gap

to just eight points on series leader

Steven Lenoir (Dyer and Butler KTM)

who recorded 3-3-4 moto results to

take the lower step on the podium

at the end of the day. Herlings was

so confident with his speed that he

did not go out on the sighting lap

for the second moto and calmly

waited in the waiting zone for the

remaining 39 riders to return.

The MX1 races were much

closer and Shaun Simpson( Hitachi

Construction Revo KTM UK) was

beaten in a moto for the first time

this year by Steven Frossard (Wilvo

Forkrent KTM) who managed to stay

on the pace for all three motos and

gave Simpson his hardest races of

the year. In the end Simpson edged

the overall with two wins to the one

of Frossard. Estonian Tanel Leok (LPE

Kawasaki) recorded 3-5-3 finishes to

take third overall and maintain his

second place in the standings with

the series at the halfway point.

The event also included the third

round of the Veterans Championship

and as expected sand specialist

Ryan Voase (Kawasaki) won all

three motos from Phil Mercer (IDS

Transport KTM) whilst Brian Wheeler

(GL12 Yamaha) kept in contention

with 5-3-3 finishes.

The next round of the

championship takes place on the

26th June at a new venue to the

series at Blaxhall Pits, Woodbridge in

the East of England.

We are delighted that we have chosen Pontrilas Moto Parc as our next venue for round 3 of the Thor British Youth Nationals. The team at PONTRILAS hope you have a successful and enjoyable weekend. In order that we can ensure the safety and enjoyment of yourself, your guests, invitees, competitors, participants and spectators, we ask you to follow a few simple rules and inform anyone to whom this applies to.

[ DOGS ARE ALLOWED ON SITE ]Please keep them on leads at all times

[ SURROUNDING AREA ]The surrounding fields, farmland, wooded areas are totally out of bounds to everyone. If anyone is found in these areas you will shot by the SAS.

[ LITTER ]Facilities will be in place - PLEASE USE. The paddock / pit / track areas will be clean before you enter the site. So we expect these areas to look the same when you leave. (This also includes marshal points around the track).

[ CAMPING ]No one will be admitted to the site before midday on the Friday June 12 2015. If track grading / watering is in progress no one will be allowed access to the circuit until Sunday morning of the event for safety reasons. No digging holes in the pit / paddock area to level up campers or caravans. No ground BBQ’s or ground fires.

[ WALKING THE TRACK ]If track grading / watering is in progress no one will be allowed access to the circuit for safety reasons. No food or drink to be taken on the track while inspecting the track.

[ CHILDREN ]Could you all please notify your guests, invitees, competitors, participants and spectators that all minors should be under supervision of a parent or responsible adult at all times. There is continual vehicle movement throughout the site.

[ NO RIDING IN THE PITS ]Riders are to dismount at the exit of the track. Any rider caught riding in the pits will be asked to leave the site.

[ FENCING ]Please do not climb on or over the chestnut fencing.

[ NO PIT BIKES OR ELECTRIC BIKES ]
