Men’s Shed $50,000 A project to provide a purpose built “Men’s Shed” in Merredin. Men’s sheds play an important role in the community by providing meeting places where men can find social support and camaraderie. “Men don’t talk face to face they talk shoulder to shoulder”

Spare Parts Puppet Theatre

$40,000 SPPT School of Puppetry tour extensively through regional Western Australia and the world. Their current show entitled ‘Farm’ is based on stories and experiences gathered in Merredin and sheds light on the real people of regional and rural Australia and share the joys and challenges of living and working on the land.

Merredin Show $2,500 The Merredin Community Show attracts a vast array of businesses, community groups, schools, service groups and general interest groups, who set up displays, activities and stalls; all of which contribute to the success of the Show. More than 2500 people attend the Merredin Community Show for a great day of entertainment and activities.

The Men’s Shed

Collgar donated $50,000 to enable a Mens’ Shed to be build in Merredin for the local community. The Shire of Merredin donated the land and the Lotteries Commission made up the rest of the budget. Recent updates include: • The Men’s Shed are now on Facebook, continue to undertake voluntary work in the community and hung photos of

the event where they were presented with funding from Collgar in their temporary shed.

• With regards to the shed itself, the concrete has been pored, steelwork has been erected and roof has been installed. The doors and windows have been scheduled to be installed this week.

Spare Parts Puppet Theatre

From November 11 to 22, SPPT were in Merredin immersing themselves in the lives of the community, which contributed to wards the making of the show Farm, which premieres in September next year at the town’s famous Cummins Theatre. Collgar have also donated the site included as part of the Merredin Show sponsorship package to enable them to promote the Farm and SPPT within the town of Merredin. The Regional Arts Australia summit which is taking place in Kalgoorlie 16-19 October 2014. Cummins Theatre & Spare Parts Puppet Theatre are collaborating to bring Farm to the RRA. A presenter from Collgar has been requested to encourage other companies in the Eastern Wheatbelt to take the same ‘forward thinking’ approach to the Arts.

Collgar Wind Farm have renewed their platinum sponsorship for this years Merredin Show which will take place on the 12 April 2014. This year Collgar has donated the site that comes in the sponsorship package to SPPT and will be utilised to promote the Farm.
