FROM THE PRINCIPAL Staff News It is with sadness that I have to advise the school community that Nurse Anthea will be leaving us at the end of next week. Her last day at Thomas Mitchell, after 6 wonderful years will be Friday 2nd June.
I’m sure you will all join with me in thanking her and wishing her well as she further develops her career.
Years 4, 5 & 6 Athletics Day Last Thursday, our students from years 4, 5 and 6, together with staff, student helpers from Gleneagles Secondary
College and a large number of parent helpers attended a highly successful Athletics Day at Knox Athletics Track. It
was wonderful to see the excited participation of so many students in all events. Thank you to everyone involved.
Prep – My Special Person Afternoon
Thank you to all the “special people” who attended the Prep My Special Person Afternoon on Tuesday. It was lovely
to see so many people there. The Preps were very excited to have “their special person” visit them.
Fidget Spinners
I’m sure all parents would be aware of the fidget spinner craze that has been so taken up by children. They may be
bought to school, however they cannot be used in classrooms, and students are required to use them sensibly. We
cannot take responsibility for any loss or damage to them.
Parking Signs Around the School
Parents are requested to read and comply with the road signs (including parking signs) around the school. The safety
of students and adults is our major concern. Please drive cautiously!

Principal

Nude Food @ TMPS
Nude food winners for Week 5, Term 2:
Junior School: 1SB and 2WR Middle School: 3RC Upper School: 6TG
Recipe of the week:
Apple & Spice Biscuits
To see a quick and easy “nude” snack idea use this QR reader or visit the
TMPS Nude Food blog at http://tmpsnudefood.blogspot.com.au/
What is a “Nude” lunch box? A “nude” lunch box is one that has no plastic wrappers or rubbish that goes to landfill.
Use re-useable containers and re-use snaplock bags to build a healthy and rubbish free lunch box. And remember, fruit
scraps are not included as rubbish!
Every day we count how many students in each class bring “nude” lunch boxes (including snack and lunch). The
winning class for the junior, middle and senior school will receive a certificate and the overall winner for the term will
receive a special treat.
For more information, contact Rose Arbuthnot.
The school runs a Playgroup for 0-5 year olds each Thursday morning from 9:15am – 10:30am during the school term, this year in the Early Learning Centre. We ask for a gold coin donation to participate and for parents to please bring a nut free snack for their child/ren. It is a great opportunity to meet other parents of children attending our school or local families and for your younger children to meet other children who may be joining the school in the future. Please feel free to bring a friend along, or if you know someone with younger children who would like to join this group, please let them know. Fun activities include: playdough, painting, pasting, stories, music, singing and games. Look forward to seeing you at Playgroup.
