Thomas Marvelli - An Experienced Ophthalmologist

Thomas Marvelli is a renowned Ophthalmologist based in Texas. He is kind, caring, and compassionate in his dealings with patients at his eye care center. He is dedicated to serving his patients and goes out of his way to ensure they are well taken care of. His areas of specialization include glaucoma, diabetic eye care, cataract surgery pediatric ophthalmology, cornea transplants and Lasik surgery.

Academics

Thomas Marvelli was born in 1953 at Eau Claire, Wisconsin in 1968. He attended Galesburg Senior High School in Illinois and graduated in 1971. He got admission at Southern Illinois University

in Carbondale, IL. After attending this university for a year, he went for a B.S. degree program in Zoology/Chemistry at the Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL. He was an ace student and because of his hard work, he was admitted to Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. He received his MD in 1978.

Residency & Training

He finished his residency in Ophthalmology from Louisiana State University Eye Center. From 1984 to 1985, he was also a fellow in Pediatric Ophthalmology at the LSUEC. He was a resident in Internal Medicine at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He was also the resident in Internal Medicine at Loyola University Medical Center for the following year.

Special Honors

Thomas Marvelli was an honorable member of the University, Beta Beta Beta, Phi Sigma Society, and American Chemical Society, and the President's Scholar Program at Southern Illinois University. He was the recipient of the G.B. Dudley Award at Eastern Illinois University, as he was an outstanding student in the physical and life sciences.

Conditions Treated By Dr. Marvelli

Cataract Surgery – Clouding of the lens in the eyes happens because of cataracts which lead to loss of vision. This can only be resolved with surgery. This is an age related condition and can develop in one of both eyes.

Diabetic Retinopathy – This is eye disease related to diabetes and is a leading cause of blindness. Dr. Marvelli performs laser surgery to relieve the

patient of macular edema and proliferative retinopathy.

LASIK Eye Surgery – After determining wether you are a good candidate of Lasik, Dr. Marvelli will perform this advanced procedure for vision correction.
