Wats poppin’One of the most important things is to be comfort-able in your own skin, being you and knowing you. It’s important to know how you work, whether this is with people, or alone. Being yourself requires looking back on previous situations and deciding what works best. There is no point of being a director of a com-pany working day to day in the trenches of the busi-ness when you dislike being in knee high mud with other soldiers.

If you are a strategic player who likes to plan and or-ganise before the war has started, the trenches are not for you. You have to look back on situations when you were In the playground picking your foot-ball team or deciding which players you would choose for “run-outs.” Were you the captain, the team leader or the faithful foot soldier? Finding this out will help you determine how you work best and will save you a lot of time in the long run. Whatever position you are in or which ever you choose, ensure that it works for who you are and fits your skin. Find out what works for you and stick to it, remembering to adapt when necessary.Being comfortable in your own skin doesn’t mean that you should remain constantly in your comfort zone. Challenging yourself helps you to realise your full potential and helps you to grow.

GRIND 101

gvzmag.com | Mar/Apr 10

Welcome back GVZ readers to Grind 101.This is the part of the mag where we give you a few hints and tips on makin’ that money, P, Cream, cheddar, paper, or whatever you wanna call it, you know what we’re sayin’!This editions’ tip is on ‘Blogs and Blogging’.For some of you blogs are an everyday thing you might use to talk about your hobbies/interests, so on and so forth, to others a blog may be something a little more obscure. In short a blog is a small web space or page where you write/talk about any subject you feel passionate about or interested in and update it as time goes on for others to read. You might write about cars, phones, music, gadgets, whatever; it’s completely up to you.

So how do you make money from this? Well most blog sites now offer the integration of some cool features such as Google Ad sense, Amazon, EBay affiliate programs. What these features basically allow you to do is advertise other peoples’ products and services on your blog. Then when people who visit your blog and click on the adverts or buy the products, you get a percentage of that sale, Easy!In order for your blog to be successful, it is important that you write good content (as in, don’t write a load of rubbish that is not true or inaccurate).Good content or writing is going to be the key thing that makes your blog work.Potentially, if what you have written is interesting and enticing enough to make the reader want the thing you are talking about, they are much more likely to click the adverts and products on your blog, so they can get what they just read about, so write about something you know well and can make sense to people who may know nothing about it.

To sign up for Google Ad sense and Amazon and EBay affiliate accounts it costs you nothing, but you will need a blog or site before you do this, as these companies will want to have a look at your blog/page before they approve your account. Don’t worry; there are some great Blogging sites that are automatically approved such as: Blogger, Hub Pages and WordPress.com. All of these sites offer great Blogging services which are quick and simple to use, even for beginners and should have youmakin’ that change ASAP! Okay, that’s the end of this editions’ Grind session, see you next time for more tasty tips on how to stack them chips!

WEALTH

UK No1 wealth Creation Course

Wealth workout

Hi Guys,

Today can be the first day of the rest of your life. Do you ever wake up and think that? It can be, you should know that. Today really can be that day for you.

Life and success is made of dreams and fulfilling those dreams. I hope so far this small e-course is helping you personally to do just that.

Today I am going to talk about property investing, the way I see it. I know you truly will appreciate it, but most of all please do this for you... USE IT WISELY!

Marcus de Maria, Wealth Expert

Page 13: thisis it again

Mar/Apr 10 | gvzmag.com

he Super Steps to Successful investing. Some of you may be very interested in investing in property.

And why not? Property has been an ideal way for us all to take advantage of the ultimate wealth tool. This tool is called OPM - other People’s Money. In other words, when you put down 15% and the bank lends you 85% you are using their money, which means leveraging the money you have.

That is good but even better is this:when the property market goes up, not only does your money increase and make you a profit, but you also own the 85% of the house that the bank lent you. As long as you continue to pay the bank the interest on the money they lent you, you make money as property prices increase. What an incredible concept, truly amazing and highly profitable. I know people who have over 44 properties, 200 properties and more. Some are being mentored by people who have over 1000 properties, 3000 properties. I have to tell you that I thought owning 200 properties was amazing, but the owner told me to drive along a road in UK and look on one side of the road, and take a look at all the appartments - there would be 200 just on one side of the road. That’s one side of one road, in one street in one Borough of one City in UK. In other words, there are a lot of properties out there.

On top of that, we have housing shortages in UK. You know what that means - supply and demand. If there are more people wanting less homes, it means prices tend to keep rising. Does that mean that all property prices go up - no it doesn’t. This is the danger of believing in general statistics. you have to do your homework ... and above all, learn from people who have done it before you. Learn from their mistakes and learn from their efforts.

Many of you reading this will not be in property yet. One reason may have been because you thought several years ago that the property market had risen so much that it was sure to go down. The year after when it had continues to rise, what did you think - now surely it must go down? and the year after when it continued to rise what did you think then. Did you wish you would have invested all those years ago? When are you going to start? Please don’t make the same mistake again and wish you had done something.

end of lesson fourWealth creation is about taking action. Don’t be on the sidelines knowing what you need to do but being afraid to take action. One thing I can guarantee you is this - if you don’t know where to start of just want some guidance, a helping hand to point you in the right direction, we will be there for you every single step of the way.

RIGHT

Ask yourself the question, “What do I think about myself.” Avoid judging your answer on what you know others think of you, what do you think about yourself? Most of us have poor views of ourselves, which can make us try and conform to be like those around us. We never seem to be happy with ourselves as we always find imperfections, when the truth is even the people you aim to be like, they are flawed too! There are no perfect people in the world but there is only one of you. No one has your distinctly different combination of characteristics and talents, which make you who you are. Every one at some point has been discouraged by the people around them, people can be made to feel inadequate or not good enough, but changing your mind set and how you view yourself will make it much easier to ignore the lies your told. You can’t love others until

you learn to truly love yourself, not with a

selfish love, but a love whereby you know you value. So, the question is, “What do you think about

yourself?” Depending on your mindset you could be your own worst enemy, get your mind right, Be yourself and you will begin to appreciate your own worth, even though you may not get it right all of the time.

RUNNING TINGS

CITY OF WESTMINSTER

SW1DOWN MYSTREET

elcome back readers to another instalment

of ‘Down my Street’; the part of the magazine where we keep you in the know and download direct to you, the knowledge needed to understand and manage in this society we live in.

In the last episode, we gave you the low down on who made the decisions and choices for your local borough and many were shocked to find out again, that it wasn’t them but, their local MP or Member of Parliament.

In this issue, we are going to look

at the role of the politician in our society and what exactly it is that one does.

A politician is a person who either stands forward as a potential candidate ( person for the job) in government elections or is voted in to be a political representative for a specific group or party.

Ever heard of Gordon Brown, you know, the Prime Minister? Well he’s a politician.

Politicians are members of political parties such as Labour, Conservative, and Green Party etc. They are the people who stand up in debates like the ones you see on telly (with the green leather seats) shouting and debating about how

the outcome of these debates is absolutely vital in determining how the country will be run and what changes will occur in things like the way we live and spend our money.

W

Page 17: thisis it again

the country should be run.

Now although all this shouting and arguing may seem like nonsense to you, the outcome of these debates is absolutely vital in determining how the country will be run and what changes will occur in things like the way we live and spend our money.

So how can we trust that these people are even arguing for things that we want?

Well firstly politicians are not all upper class citizens who know nothing about hardship. Politicians come from all different types of backgrounds and families.

You do not have to have specific academic or professional qualifications to be one, in fact there indeed politicians in the House of Commons (where they do the shouting) that come from be-ing school teachers, nurses, factory workers and many other professions, so don’t feel like you yourself could never be there making big shot decisions and shouting at the likes of Gordon Brown and Tony Blair because, regular Joes like us are already in there doing it! And don’t even think about saying I’m too young or

old for that matter because, in ‘05 the youngest Member of Parliament was only 25, where as the oldest was 80!

Politicians can be male or female, there is no restriction on gender, however at the moment there are more men in the house, so ladies, time to step up your game!

And all you black brothers and sisters out there feeling a little neglected don’t because, there are more and more black and ethnic minority MP’s being elected every year!

Anyone who wants it enough can get it, trust me, the door is open and waiting for you to walk through!

So there’s no longer any need to be afraid of the politicians, not knowing who they are or what they do, a lot of them are just normal people like you and I, who just went hard for something they wanted and got it, now they are runnin’ tings!

Why don’t you get your mind focused on something you want and start working towards making it happen today? Who knows, soon you might be running for Prime Minister!? By Liam

SWAY

Derek Andrew Safo (born 5 September, 1982) is a English hip hop artist of Ghanaian origins, who uses the stage names Sway DaSafo or simply Sway; he is also a full-time producer, establishing DCypha Productions.

Sway was born in Southampton, Hampshire, in 1982. His mother had travelled from Amsterdam to Heathrow on her journey to Ghana, from which she originated and spoke the dialect of Twi. Whilst in London, she gave birth to Derek Safo. Sway attented Redlands Primary School where he spent most of his time experimenting with music, rewriting the lyrics of his favourite artists. He attended Highgate Wood Secondary School in North London where he spent his spare time using the school equipment for musical production. Producing tracks for local artists, he was told to use his personality to write songs by adding his humour with his lyrical talent. Sway is the cousin of former Arsenal footballer Quincy Owusu-Abeyie, who is currently playing for FC Spartak Moscow. Owusu-Abeiye claims he is an accomplished rapper too.

What have we here ? BRAND NEW R&B oozing with soul and an infectious hand-clapping flow. It takes me back to ‘98 when all R&B sounded like this. The remix features a couple of raps from old mate jada kiss to make you feel even more nostalgic. I dream of the day our music returns to the stage if this offering from the often underrated Jaheim.

Page 29: thisis it again

The success of British Hip Hop and R&B urban group N-Dubz has been phenomenal since their self-released single “I Swear” in 2006 won them mainstream recognition. The trio comprising of members: Dino “Dappy” Contostavios, cousin Tula “Tulisa” Contostavios and Richard “Fazer” Rawson from north west London have taken the UK by storm with six Top 40 hits in the charts and are set to conquer the US next.

N-Dubz

The threesome, former pupils at the Quintin Kynaston school in St John’s Wood first came under the management of Dino’s father, Byron Constostavios who died on 12th April 2007. Under their origi-nal name of “Lickle Rinsers Crew” they released two singles “Bad Man Riddem” and “Life Is Getting Sicker By The Day” which became hits on English pirate radios. The name was changed to NW1 and they made music videos for the track “Every-day Of My Life” which was given airplay on Channel U. The group re-corded more demos such as “Don’t Feel Like Moving”, “Girl On Road” and “Living Broke”.

It wasn’t until 2007, under the name of N-Dubz that another self-released single “Feva Las Vegas” gained them entry into the UK charts, peaking at #57.

At the 2007 MOBO awards, N-Dubz won the award for Best Newcomer. In the same year, they signed to Polydor Records, re-releasing their first single “You Better Not Waste My Time”.

A song entitled “Ouch” accompa-nied with a music video in May 2008, attracted over 4 million view-

ers on You Tube in just over a month after its release. On the 6th August 2008, it was announced that the group had left Polydor Records and had signed to All Around The World Records which predominately specializes in dance music but has occasionally released Hip Hop records. It was stated that “Ouch” would be released as the group’s first single under the new label in September 2008.

Uncle B, the group’s first album released in November 2008 went platinum selling around 600,000 copies, including tracks “You Bet-ter Not Waste My Time”, “I Swear”, “Feva Las Vegas”, “Love For My Slum”, “Ouch”, “Defeat You” and “Papa Can You Hear Me?”. Group member Dappy featured on Tinchy Stryder’s 2009 #1 hit single “Number 1”. The rest of the group featured in the video.

The Uncle B tour on the back of the success of the best-selling album had to add five extra dates to the original 16 date tour due to high demand. The tour featuring Tinchy Stryder sold out in matter of days.

The 2009 MOBO awards saw the

Page 31: thisis it again

group winning Best UK Act and Best Album for Uncle B. They were also nominated for Best Group and Best Music Video for Ouch at the 2008 Urban Music Awards and Best British Single for Number 1 at the 2010 Brits Awards. The second album, Against All Odds released in November

2009 debuted at #6 in the charts and went platinum within approximately two months of release. The group are currently embarking on the Against All Odds Tour.

Nationwide Youth Art and Poetry Competition

Animal Aid – the UK’s largest organisation campaigning on behalf of animals – has launched its second nationwide art and poetry competition encouraging young people (aged 11-18 years) to express their opinions on the con-troversial issue of factory farming – a topic that regularly appears in the national media. The organisation hopes to encourage young people to research what happens on intensive farms, and to feel inspired to create powerful poetry and passionate art pieces. The competition is open to all budding young artists and poets across the country. The winning entries will be displayed at an award ceremony in London at the end of June, where children’s BBC TV presenter, Rani Price (co-presenter of the wildlife show ROAR) will present the winners with their prizes, which include a games console, ipod and digital camera. Says Competition Coordinator Kelly Slade:‘Eleven to eighteen is a perfect age to start thinking about where the food on your plate comes from and for making important decisions that will not only benefit animals, but human health and the environment too. Young people

Page 45: thisis it again

hen I was growing up as a young boy we would play games and take on the persona of people

we admired dearly. People who we thought were cool, rich, successful and famous. The games were great but often some of us would invariably take it too far and started believing we were actually that person. One particular game we played a lot was called “The Game of Death “ were we recreated the movie which starred the late Bruce Lee and Kareem Abdul Jabar from the US basketball supremos, LA Lakers and the Harlem Globe Trotters.

Well, as I was playing with the sort of friends that are over zealous, we attempted the moves that Bruce Lee did so much so that on occasion, one guy actually punched the other guy so hard in the chest that he passed out and needed medical attention! We were so scared

that we decided it best not to continue the game. Now , I use this story to highlight the fact that although it is great to

emulate those we admire who may often influence our decisions and action, we must be mindful that we were fearfully and wonderfully made in a unique fashion and no one can

W

no one can be a better us than us.

LEN’S WORD

LEN’S WORD

be a better us than us.

So Be Yourself.

Consider a fish on dry land how pathetic it would seem, flapping around aimlessly. When we try to be yourself, we are like a fish out of water, tossing about without a sense of real purpose and promise. A fish that is being itself is said to be in its element. If you are a designer, be yourself. If you are a dancer do it your way. If you are a composer, create your style. What we celebrate mostly about people is individual style, even when put together. Be yourself.

One thing I love to do and advise people to do and be, is comfortable in your own skin. With that you will enjoy the kind of freedom of expression that will lead you to great levels of creativity.

So be yourself, because in doing that you release into the world your talents, gifts and wisdom th at will bring about enlightenment, joy and prosperity unparalleled to you and all the people you come in to contact with. Just be yourself !

A fish that is being itself is said to be in its element.
