PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

So last week, I sent out the official notification of the Parent Pastor Principal meetings. I didn't receive a single request to change times. Thank you so much for supporting Fr. Rich and I as we strive facilitate your family on their faith journey. As we prepare, we have read countless articles, watched many videos and even excerpts from books. We want you to know how much this means to us and your support is priceless. I am looking forward to seeing you next week! On another note, the protocols for how HNM will handle health issues at the school are changing. As soon as they are complete I will notify all the parents. Please click on the link for School Speak conference and sign your child up as soon as possible. The purpose for this Parent teacher conference is Student Learning Expectations (SLE).

each student brings in 2 lunches on Wednesday, Feb. 8th, we will have enough lunches to deliver to ALL our facilities AND

provide 200 lunches to the Winter Shelter!

HEALTH ROOM KIDS’ CLUB

DAILY ABSENCES-If your child is going to be absent for the day please be sure to call or email the health room by 10am. Upon returning, please send a note. If there is an illness longer than 3 days they will need a note from the doctor. Health Room extension is 227 email is jbryant-evans@hnmschool.org

APPOINTMENTS DURING SCHOOL HOURS-If your child needs to go to an appointment during school hours, upon returning, they will need to come to the health room and be signed back into school if it’s the same day. Be sure to bring a note from the appointment so that we can excuse the absence and attach it to the tardy slip.

MEDICATIONS-If your child needs any medication during the day, we’re happy to give it to them. There is a form that must accompany every medication to be administered during school hours. Children cannot carry any medication in their backpacks without an Archdiocesan form on file in the health room. WE CANNOT GIVE ANY PAIN, ALLERGY, OR PERSCRIBED MEDICATION WITHOUT THE SIGNED FORM FROM THE DOCTOR. You can obtain all needed forms in the health room. Medication must be in a sealed container, not

expired, with the pharmacy information.

THE HOURS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Morning Kids’ Club-6:30am-7:40am Afternoon Kids’ Club-3:00pm-6:00pm

At 6:05pm, a $15.00 late fee will be applied.

An additional $15.00 will be added for every 15 minutes, thereafter.

Please have announcements for the weekly bulletin submitted by Tuesday at 10am for the bulletin that goes out on Thursday. All announcements need to go through Mrs. Marquez before they can be published.

SAFEGUARD THE CHILDREN MISSIONARY CHILDHOOD ASSOCIATION

VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children

Holy Name of Mary will be hosting VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children workshops throughout the 2016-2017 school year. Anyone who wants to volunteer at the school, with Faith Formation, or with any ministry that works with children must complete this workshop and Live Scan fingerprinting. It is recommended that all parents complete the volunteer process as soon as possible. Certification lasts four (4) years, after which one must be recertified. RSVP by calling Melanie Bailey at (909) 599-1243 ext. 232.

As the children of our community generously give of themselves, they embody the arms and heart of Christ and embrace children in need throughout the world. Please encourage your child to donate to their classroom globe bank. All of the money that is collected goes directly to the Missionary Childhood Association (MCA). The MCA helps children all over the world obtain the food and basic supplies that they need. There is nothing more beautiful than children helping children.

Our third annual OneLife LA event is Saturday, January 21, 2017 We invite you to join thousands in declaring a commitment to valuing and protecting all human life, particularly the most

vulnerable in our community. The event will begin with a walk up Temple Street, across Grand Avenue and down 1st

Street, culminating in a family-friendly picnic with music, entertainment, food trucks, and exhibits from organizations.

MOMS PRAYER GROUP

Did you know that HNM Parish has a prayer group specifically tailored to the mothers of our Parish? Whether your children are teen-agers driving for the first time or you’re still up to your elbows in diapers, this group is for you! You are cordially invited to join our group the third Wednesday of each month for prayer, reflection, sharing, and discussion. We meet in rooms 204/205 of the Hall

from 9:30 AM-11:00 AM. This year we will be reading and discussing Breaking Busy: How to Find Peace & Purpose in a World of Crazy by Alli Worthington. Moms Night Out Prayer Group: We'd like to invite you to join

us in fellowship to support each other, to pray, and to discuss the

As wily and rough as he was depicted to be, he made known a beautiful, gentle truth: Jesus as the Son of God was announced by John to Israel.

CHILDREN’S MASS

There will be no children’s mass for the month of January

Children’s mass will reconvene Sunday, February 19th at 10am

A more child focused liturgy with the Children’s Choir, Children Lectors, and a child friendly activity to follow in the hall. Lectors, greeters, and ushers, please sign-up in office if you would

like to participate in any of the upcoming children's Masses-they will

be held the 3rd Sunday of each month. We will do our best to

include everyone who commits to joining us.

WINTER SHELTER

FEBRUARY 1ST -14TH, 2017

Items we are collecting now: Men and Women's new

underwear and socks. Gift cards to any grocery store to

purchase dinners, breakfasts and lunches. New travel sized

shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, toothpaste,

toothbrushes, women's personal hygiene items, and shaving

cream and disposable razors. All items can be brought to the

parish office attention Brenda Luna/Winter Shelter. Thank
