WEEK 4 TERM 4 8th November 2019
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Wow what a week it has been with great activities and learning taking place at Lake Cargelligo Central School.
A big round of applause goes out to Kirstin Morris and the AECG for the organisation and running of NAIDOC day last Friday. Students had an enjoyable day participating in a variety of activities. Congratulations also to the students that performed and received awards on the day, well done.
On Monday, we concluded our Kinder Transition program with our parent workshops and graduation. The transition students performed ‘Old Macdonald had a Farm’ and were given their graduation certificates and packs, which included their school hat for next year. Thank you to Miss Forrest, Mrs Bussenschutt and Mrs O’Connor for all their hard work and dedication to running our fantastic program and I look forward to seeing the new Kindergarten class in 2020.
‘Dads in Schools Day’ was held on Tuesday and was a great success. Dads were invited into the school to participate in playground and classroom activities, and hand painting organised by Catholic Care. It was fantastic to see lots of faces and students enjoying their time at school with their dad.
This week saw the start of the transition into Year 7 with an information afternoon on Wednesday. Mr Mulherin and Mr Fitzgerald handed out some very useful information. Thank you to all the parents that attended the session. If you require any information, please contact the school. Next week will see Year 6 students trying out high school as part of the transition program.
Primary and Infants should be well aware of snake safety and even know how to deal with a snake bite, after their most informative and entertaining presentation by Zac Wells on snake safety. The students even got to pat a bearded dragon.

Principal Message
Mr Mulherin travelled to Condobolin with his Year 11 English studies class for an English study day. Students across the LAP schools attended the day to meet the teacher and to gain a good start on the Year 12 work.
This week saw the start of the Progressive Achievement Tests with Year 10 trying their best. Years 1 to 6 will have their tests next week and following on in Week 7 will be Years 7 to 9. These tests will help staff prepare for next year through the analysis of the students current performance. The tests are designed to see the growth students make in Grammar, Reading and Mathematics over the year.
Year 10 have also been participating in the Minimum Standards Tests. Year 10 is the first year students can demonstrate they meet the minimum standards for the Higher School Certificate. We already have students that have met the standards in Reading, Writing and Numeracy. Students are given the opportunity twice a year to meet the standards. Mr Johnston will be sharing more about the visit to Blue Haven Public School, on the Central Coast, next week.

Dads in Schools Day at LCCS
At school yesterday my dad came to school. We did hand painting. I had to paint my dads hand green. He had to paint mine blue. I had to splat it on a canvas. After I had to wash my hands. It didn’t come off. After that I went to play cricket. The ball came straight towards me. I didn’t catch it because I was too shy. After that I went to the parachute. We had to put balls on the parachute and we had to shake and catch. We also had to pull up the parachute and we had to give someone a high five. We had to run around the parachute 2 times. After that it was lunch. I had a sausage on bread. We went into Year 3, we played Senga. After me and dad went to skip. We had to find which one doesn’t belong.

I played with the paint. Then in the classroom we had maths. At lunch we had a sausage sizzle. I went to the playground and I skipped around.

Yesterday my pop and dad came to school. We played with the parachute and on the parachute there were balls. We had so much fun with them, and we painted our hand. I had red and my pop had blue and then we had a photo with our painted hands and the card and my pops hand was on the bottom and my hand was on the top. Yesterday it was hot. We had a sausage sizzle and we played cricket. We came inside to do some maths. My pop had to fill out the piece of paper. The sausage was yummy and I enjoyed the day.

My dad and mum came to my school and we painted with blue paint and my dad’s paint was red. I went to play cricket and we had the ball. We threw the ball and I went to the parachute. We had fun and at lunch I ate one hot dog. After lunch I went to the library.

Year 2 News
Year 2 have been lucky enough to have some special
visitors in our classroom at the beginning of the term.
Students welcomed some chickens and some rabbits in
Week 3. Ronny kindly showed off his new baby chickens
and Kasey allowed us to engage with some beautiful
soft rabbits.
We took this opportunity to discuss responsibilities and
benefits of owning a pet.

Year 3 News
For Dads in School Day, students were asked
to draw a picture of their father to display in
the classroom. The drawings were used to
see if the dads could pick which one was of
them!
A big thank you to the dads and relatives who
visited our classroom.
The drawings below are by Charli-mae (top)
and Ace.
