God Has Good Works for You to do During Your Lifetime

II Corinthians 9:8,11-God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work … You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. Hebrewes 10:24-In response to all he has done for us, let us outdo each other in being helpful and kind to each other and in doing good.

Help FBC Meet Its Budget

We appreciate your faithful giving to FBC and its ministries.

God is doing many good things at our church. Pray for the economy in America.

We need $23,352.00 each week to meet our budget.

Faith Promise Update

Since January 1, the total giving to Faith Promise has been $6,705.00. Our need since January 1 is $9,198.00.

Our weekly need is $1,022.00.

We are currently $2,493.00 BEHIND our year-to-date need! Thank you for being faithful to God’s Word through Faith Promise Giving!

Faith Promise is money you give to help our missionaries.

If we do not receive $4,426.00 each month, all of our Faith Promise missionaries like Mark and Vanessa Burritt, Steve and Darlene Evers, Bob and Elena Gonzalez and Steve and Patty Robenalt will not receive their “full” monthly support from us. Your faithfulness helps our missionaries spread the love of Jesus around the world! Make your checks payable to FBC earmarked “Faith Promise.”

“Who Is Building Your House?”

March 11, 2018 Dr. Roger Ball

[email protected]

Need help on a: Career, building a house, singleness, marriage, family, peace, sleep, purpose, hate, love, satisfaction, blessings, vanity, atheism, God's sovereignty, man's responsibility and narcissism? All this today from two verses.

Psalm 127:1 - Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain.

Who is listed first in verse 1?

What is foolish security?

What is a vain life?

What is a vain marriage?

Psalm 127:2 - It is vain for you to rise up early, To retire late, To eat the bread of painful labors; For He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.

#1 - The price for success is ______________.

The price for success is welcome ___________________.

Psalm 127:1 - Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain. (2) It is vain for you to rise up early, To retire late, To eat the bread of painful labors; For He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.

Matthew 5:9 - Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

Romans 12:18 - Do everything possible on your part to live in peace with everybody.

3000 years ago … The Ark of the Covenant and Ten Commandments sat at the top of Mount Moriah where eventually the first Temple was built by Solomon. (II Samuel 7:11)

People walked up hill to worship God.

#2 - Anything you do, whether building a Temple, church, house, guard a city, or work in your job is _________________________.

Page 15: This Week at F · 8:00 am 9:30 am Messenger lass-Room 107/108 (ouples and Singles, 50’s-70’s) Welcome and Greeting 11:00 am 9:30 am Nursery-- irth through 23 Months OldOffertory

Psalm 127:1 - Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain.

If God is not first _________________________

To be successful ___________________________________

This exposes the arrogance of people who think they can accomplish anything without God's help and enablement.

Self-reliance and self-sufficiency is ______________.

#3 - Build - watch - work but trust God to __________ – ___________ – _________.

Work _______________________.

Trust God _______________________.

God is in your work … please ____________________.

God is in your marriage …________________________.

God’s blessings depends on a balance between working and trusting.

Psalm 127:1 - Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain.

Do you work like an atheist?

Do you do family and marriage like an atheist?

Do you sleep and wake up like an atheist or do you trust in the Lord?

#4 - To enjoy rest and peace _________________________.

Psalm 127:2 - It is vain for you to rise up early, To retire late, To eat the bread of painful labors; For He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.

Proverbs 21:31 - The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the LORD.

Deuteronomy 8:18 - Remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth.

Jeremiah 10:23 - I know, O LORD, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps."

Can worry ourselves to security?

#5. God is sovereign over all the affairs of men, and it is the _________ _____________ not to acknowledge His sovereignty.

Proverbs 16:33 - The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD.

Page 16: This Week at F · 8:00 am 9:30 am Messenger lass-Room 107/108 (ouples and Singles, 50’s-70’s) Welcome and Greeting 11:00 am 9:30 am Nursery-- irth through 23 Months OldOffertory

Ephesians 1:11 - God "works all things after the counsel of His will,"

Nothing happens haphazardly or arbitrarily.

Matthew 10:29 - Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. (30) But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Each sparrow that dies … is known by God.

Ecclesiastes 1:14 - I have seen everything that is done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind.

Ecclesiastes 9:11 - The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to those with knowledge …

#6 - Only one person can guarantee an outcome: The sovereign God.

James 4:13 - Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” (14) Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. (15) Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.” (16) But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil.

It is a ___________ to deny the sovereignty of God.

It is dead wrong to say no to the Creator and sustainer of the Universe.

God is able- yes- but after God creating everything … we get to build.

#7 - God requires human work/responsibility to ________ things.

Trusting God doesn't mean being ______________.

If you are not diligent, you cannot expect to ___________.

Faith is God's gift, but man must _________________.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 - Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.

Proverbs 10:4 - The hand of the diligent makes rich.

II Thessalonians 3:10 - If anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.

1 Corinthians 3:6 - I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. So the glory still goes to God, even when He uses us as His instruments.

Our labor would be in vain if God were not in it.
