Children’s Time 8th Grade Bible Presentations Anika Longacre Hurst, Amani Kaufman, Anabelle Lapp, Ana Martin, Gabrielle Martin, Lauren Weaver
We value children’s participation in worship. This is a sacred time, and children’s ideas and questions come from earnest seeking.
During this time we ask you not to laugh, but to listen and see with the ears and eyes of a child.
(Children 4 and under are dismissed for child care)
Offertory Prayer “Prayer for the Great Family” Gary Snyder, The Gary Snyder Reader
Gratitude to Mother Earth, sailing through night and day— and to her soil: rich, rare, and sweet in our minds so be it. Gratitude to Plants, the sun-facing light-changing leaf and fine root-hairs; standing still through wind and rain; their dance is in the flowing spiral grain in our minds so be it. Gratitude to Air, bearing the soaring Swift and the silent Owl at dawn. Breath of our song clear spirit breeze
in our minds so be it. Gratitude to Wild Beings, our brothers, teaching secrets, freedoms, and ways; who share with us their milk; self-complete, brave, and aware in our minds so be it. Gratitude to Water: clouds, lakes, rivers, glaciers; holding or releasing; streaming through all our bodies salty seas in our minds so be it. Gratitude to the Sun: blinding pulsing light through trunks of trees, through mists, warming caves where bears and snakes sleep—he who wakes us— in our minds so be it. Gratitude to the Great Sky who holds billions of stars—and goes yet beyond that— beyond all powers, and thoughts and yet is within us— Grandfather Space. The Mind is his Wife.

Announcements and Introduction of Visitors
Benediction “In the Leaving” Jan Richardson, Circle of Grace
In the leaving, in the letting go, let there be this to hold onto at the last:
the enduring of love, the persisting of hope, the remembering of joy,
the offering of gratitude, the receiving of grace, the blessing of peace.
This is the blessing we cannot speak by ourselves.
This is the blessing we cannot summon by our own devices, cannot shape to our own purposes, cannot bend to our own will.
This is the blessing that comes when we leave behind our aloneness,
when we gather together, when we turn toward one another.
This is the blessing that blazes among us when we speak the words strange to our ears,
when we finally listen into the chaos,
when we breathe together at last.
