This Week @ KHCC Our Church's Week of Compassion Hurrican Relief How Our Church is Helping... Week of Compassion is the relief, refugee and development mission fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada. How Our Church is Helping...Week of Compassion is the relief, refugee and development mission fund of theChristian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada. southeast continue to offer shelter and assistance to their communities, with supportfrom regional leadership.

Week of Compassion has an ongoing relationship with the VolusiaInterfaiths/Agencies Networking in Disaster, where we are supporting long-termrecovery from Hurricane Matthew. We have reached out to offer additionalassistance for additional efforts responding to Irma.

Hurricane Harvey:

In the last week, Week of Compassion has distributed over $100,000 in solidaritygrants to households and churches through the Coastal Plains Area and SouthwestRegion. Additionally, our staff has provided information and pastoral support toDisciples congregations making significant impact in their local areas. Ourcongregations span the impact zone--from Corpus Christi, Aransas Pass, andVictoria in the west, to Beaumont, Port Arthur, and Orange in the east; fromGalveston and Texas City in the south, to Conroe and Kingwood in the north.Disciples have distributed more than 1000 clean up buckets and have helped muckout dozens of houses. Congregations have collected school supplies, hosted meals,and offered prayer for and with their neighbors.

Together with Disciples Volunteering and local and regional leaders, Week ofCompassion is planning for long-term recovery support and volunteer opportunities.

Disciple Women’s Ministry

It’s September, so it is time for the DWM’s to resume their meetings. May we allhave a blessed year of loving, learning and fellowshipping together.

Our doors and our hearts are always open and ready to welcome all who want to fellowship with us.

Time has snuck up on us and it is once again time for the Women’s LA Retreat that

is held at the Wesley Center in Woodworth, LA. It is a beautiful location and theperfect place to find quiet time with God as well as fellowship

with other women from all over LA.

Congratulations to Larry & Betty Wise who will celebrate their 41st weddinganniversary on September 18th.

We celebrate with our third graders, John Foster II, Alyson Peyton, and KayliePratt who received their Bibles at our combined worship service last Sunday.

We celebrate the success of Chi Rho’s potato lunch on Sunday. Through thegenerosity of those attending over $900 was raised to support the Chi Rho’s

mission work and trip.
