Some animals hibernate in winter. This means, they go to sleep for the whole winter.


How do animals survive in winter?

Some animals hibernate in winter. This means they take a really long nap.

Some animals migrate. This means they move to a warmer place for the winter.

Others stay awake and hunt for food where they live.

Some animals, like chipmunks and rabbits,

dig burrows to hibernate. Others, like snails and box turtles, may crawl under

rocks, logs, or leaves. Snapping turtles and frogs bury themselves in mud at the bottom of a pond. Bats

and bears spend their winter sleeping in dark

caves.
