This Muslim Generation Being Abandoned By Allaah? Question: Is it possible that Allaah has abandoned this Muslim generation for the time being, bearing in mind Muslim defeats all around the world? Fatwa by Fatwa Team Supervised by Dr. Abdulla Al-Faqeeh All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions. No doubt that any sincere Muslim who observes the state of Muslims nowadays will be extremely sad and heartbroken because of the weakness of Muslims and their lack of strategy not to mention the humiliation and degradation they suffer at the hands of their enemies. Their blood is shed, their honour is violated, their land is occupied and their wealth is looted. This is why many Muslims wonder why doesn't Allaah give Muslims triumph over their enemies. No doubt that triumph is in the Hands of Allaah Only. Allaah Says (interpretation of meaning): {…And there is no victory except from Allaah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.} [3: 126]. But there are conditions for triumph. If they are met, triumph follows and the opposite is true. These are the Sunan (cause and effect) that Allaah establishes in this world and {…and you will not find any change in the Way of Allaah.} [33: 62]. The causes for triumph are mentioned in the Qur'an. 1) Making all possible efforts to support the religion of Allaah by implementing it on His earth. Allaah Says (interpretation of meaning): {O you who believe! If you help (in the cause of) Allaâh, He will help you, …} [47: 7] 2) Multiplying good deeds as a follow-up to the belief in Allaah. Allaah Says (interpretation of meaning): {Those (Muslim rulers) who, if We give them power in the land, (they) order for Iqamat-as-Salât. [i.e. to perform the five compulsory Salât (prayers)], to pay the Zakât and they enjoin Al-Ma'rûf (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism and all that Islâm orders one to do), and forbid Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism and all that Islâm has forbidden) [i.e. they make the Qur'ân as the law of their country in all the spheres of life]. And with Allaah rests the end of (all) matters (of creatures).} [22: 41] 3) Achieving the servitude to Allaah. Allaah Says (interpretation of meaning): {Allaah has promised those among you who believe, and do righteous good deeds, that He will certainly grant them succession to (the present rulers) in the earth, as He granted it to those before them, and that He will grant them the authority to practise their religion, that which He has chosen for

This Muslim Generation Being Abandoned By Allaah?

Question: Is it possible that Allaah has abandoned this Muslim generation for the time being, bearing in mind Muslim defeats all around the world?  Fatwa by Fatwa Team Supervised by Dr. Abdulla Al-FaqeehAll perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds.

If you help (in the cause of) Allaâh, He will help you, …} [47: 7]

2) Multiplying good deeds as a follow-up to the belief in Allaah. And with Allaah rests the end of (all) matters (of creatures).} [22: 41]

3) Achieving the servitude to Allaah. Allaah Says (interpretation of meaning): {Allaah has promised those among you who believe, and do righteous good deeds, that He will certainly grant them succession to (the present rulers) in the earth, as He granted it to those before them, and that He will grant them the authority to practise their religion, that which He has chosen for them (i.e. Islâm). And He will surely give them in exchange a safe security after their fear (provided) they (believers) worship Me and do not associate anything (in worship) with Me. …) [24: 55]

4) Fearing Allaah and being patient. Allaah Says (interpretation of meaning): (…But if you remain patient and become pious, not the least harm will their cunning do to you….) [3: 120]. He also Says: ("Yes, if you hold on to patience and piety, and the enemy comes

rushing at you; your Lord will help you with five thousand angels having marks (of distinction).") [3: 125]

5) Searching for the deficiencies and shortcomings inside ourselves and working to repair them and provide the appropriate remedy. Allaah Says (interpretation of meaning): {(What is the matter with you?) When a single disaster smites you, although you smote (your enemies) with one twice as great, you say: "From where does this come to us?" Say (to them), "It is from yourselves (because of your evil deeds)." And Allaah has power over all things.} [3: 165]

6) Forming a good sincere Muslim group who is ready to sacrifice everything in the Way of Allaah regardless of their number. Allaah Says (interpretation of meaning): {…"How often a small group overcame a mighty host by Allaah's Leave?" And Allaah is with As-Sâbirin (the patient ones, etc.).} [2: 249]

7) Preparing the material strength that dissuades the enemies. Allaah Says (interpretation of meaning): {And make ready against them all you can of power, …} [8: 60]

Do the Muslims now fulfill the above conditions?

Any observer of the Muslim community now can notice easily that they have neglected many of these conditions and even fulfilled conditions that result in the opposite, i.e. the weakness and humiliation.  1) They (Muslims) have chosen the desires and comfort of this life.Imaam Ahmad reported from Thowban that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said:  "The nations are close to invading you from all horizons as the eaters rush calling one another for their receptacle". We said: "Is this due to our small number at that time?" The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "You are numerous at that time. But you will be like the foam of the sea. Your enemies will no longer venerate you (veneration will be taken out of their hearts) and Wahan will be set in your hearts". We asked him "and what is Wahan?" The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) replied: "Love for worldly affairs and fear of death" [Ahmad and Abu Dawood]

2) Giving up Jihad for the cause of Allaah.

Ibn Omar narrated that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "When you conclude transactions by "Eena (a type of usury)", take the tails of cows, be satisfied with agriculture and give up Jihad, Allaah will overload you with a humiliation that He will not lift off unless you return (have recourse) to your religion" [Abu Dawood]

3) Disagreement and disunity.

Allaah Says (interpretation of meaning): {…and do not dispute (with one another) lest you lose courage and your strength depart,…} [8: 46]

But pessimism and despair should not overwhelm the Muslim. It is a Sunnah of Allaah that each hardship or distress is followed by a relief or happiness.

There are some glad tidings that prove that eternity is for this religion and that it will dominate anything else:

1) Tameem Ad-Daary narrated that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "Indeed this matter (Islam) will reach any place where there is day and night Allaah will not leave any 'home of mud or wool' (in the city or the country) except He will make this religion enter it in honour of the venerated or the humiliation of the abject. An honour with which Allaah venerates Islam and a humiliation with which Allaah abjects Kufr" [Ahmad]

2) Expansion of the area conquered by Islam. Abdullah Ibn Amr Ibn Al-Aas was asked: 'Which city will be conquered first, Constantinople or Rome?' He ordered (someone) to bring him a box which had rings and took a book out of that box. Then Abdullah said: 'While we were around the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) writing, he was asked: Which city will be conquered first, Constantinople or Rome?' The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "The city of Herculeswill be conquered first." [Ahmad]. Al-Albani said: 'And the first conquest was done by the Ottomans, 800 years after the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) informed the companions about this and the second conquest will take place by the Will of Allaah. No doubt about that'.

3) Jihad against the Jews in the Great Battle. Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "The Last Day will not come before you fight the Jews until the stone behind which a Jew is hiding says: "O! Muslim, this is a Jew behind me come and kill him." [al-Bukhaari]

4) It is also reported that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said that Allaah showed him the East and West of Earth and the Kingdom of his Ummah will reach where his sight reached.

5) Imam Ahmad reported that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "Give glad tidings to this Ummah of sublimity and strengthening in land and triumph and highness in Deen (religion) and whoever of them (this Ummah) does some deeds just for the purpose of getting something in this life, he will not have any share in the Last Day."

So, the Muslim should trust Allaah and should be certain of Allaah's Promise. He should also know that the good will remain in this Ummah and that only that which is good perseveres.

Allaah knows best.
