This could replace human intelligence

in the near future…

Nick Bostrom is a Swedish philosopher and teaches at the University of Oxford. In his book “Superintelligence: Paths, Dangers and Strategies” he describes the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and what could happen if we actually succeed.

AI has great potential to do good in the short term and an enormous potential to do so in the longer term. However, superintelligence raises unique challenges what we haven’t faced so far. One plausible scenario is that superintelligence system eventually become too powerful.

Apparently adequate control mechanisms might fail so we need to establish field of inquiry to advance foundational & technical work on control problems. “Superintelligence should be developed for the benefit of all of humanity and the service of widely shared ethical ideals.”
