We held our first ever Kindergarten showcase at school this morning as an introduction and welcome to our Thirlmere school community. The student leaders, library monitors, P & C and staff worked hard to show the outstanding programs, classrooms and opportunities that we offer. I think I can confidently say it was a huge success. There were many words of positive feedback from our visitors. I’d like to say a big thank you to all involved. Next week is Education week and I’d like to take this opportunity to invite all members of our community to visit the school on Thursday 30 July for our assembly, morning tea and open classrooms. SRC Hot Chocolate What a perfect morning to begin our Hot Choclate sales. The SRC were excited and so were the many students who warmed themselves up before school. Thank you Mrs Boon, Mrs Redman and Mr Hollier for helping out on the morning and Mrs Redman for her donations of Milo and the first lot of cups.

Mini Forest Thank You Many thanks to Fiona and all her volunteers from the Wollondilly Community Nursery for the donation of trees for our fabulous Mini Forest. Also, thank you to Will and Sarah Zwickl of Biwaste Services Hill Top for their donation of the sandstone. Your support is very much appreciated.

Reading Workshop Ms Mace and Mrs Huntrods will be running a workshop for parents interested in working with their children on improving their reading skills at home. This will be held on Thursday 23 July at 9:15am in the band room.

Aboriginal Parent / Carer Meeting Mrs Budd, Miss Wilder and I would like to invite all Aboriginal parents / carers to a meeting to discuss our schools Aboriginal programs for Semester 2. We will provide an overview of the program so far and would love the chance to seek parent input and guidance for the direction of this program for Semester 2. Please meet in the band room on Thursday 23 July at 2pm.

Kindergarten 2016 Please contact the school office if your child will be starting Kindergarten in 2016 to collect an application for enrolment form the school office. Staff will commence planning for Kindergarten transition shortly and we would like to ensure we are in contact with as many families as possible.

Car Parking It appears to be time again for me to appeal to our community and ask you to ensure you are following the parting regulations around our school. In particular, the 2 minute parking area at the front of the school. Please do not park and leave your vehicle during morning and afternoon drop off and pick up. This makes it extremely difficult for parents doing the right thing.

Earn and Learn Please collect your stickers when you shop at Woolworths and drop them in the box in our front office. This provides a great way to “buy” extra learning materials for our school at no cost. Happy shopping.

Mrs France and Mrs Benson Mrs France and Mrs Benson will again be working in the city testing and trialling our updated systems from Monday 20 July until Friday 31 July.
