Ministry
We are running low on our supply of
communion wine for our liturgies. If able, please pick up a bottle of
Livingston’s Red Rosé wine. And, as always, we deeply appreciate your
continued assistance. You may bring the wine to the parish
office any time during office hours. Thank you.
GARDEN MINISTRY NEWS: We need four
more gardeners to take a garden assignment. Two for the garden by the sign and two for
the prayer garden. We have Round-up, mulch and other things to make things easier
for you. Thirty minutes a week will keep the
garden pretty. If you would like to join the “Garden Ministry”, please give me a call at 488-6449. Elfie Psimas
Due to vacation schedules, the collection totals
for August 26 and September 2 will appear in the bulletin next week.
Veronica White will be stepping down
from her current Nursery Coordinator position at the end of September.
Therefore, we are looking for one or two people to coordinate and oversee the
parish nursery. The Nursery Coordinator
(s) is responsible for scheduling volunteers, ensuring proper staffing of nursery during the two Sunday liturgies, and
other parish formation sessions/events, as well as verifying that all volunteers are compliant with background checks
and VIRTUS requirements. The Coordinator(s) will also maintain the nursery in sanitary and good order. If
interested in this position, please send your resume and
Diocesan application to Fr. Kevin J. O’Brien no later than September 10.

THE RICHMOND SLAVE TRAIL WALK: A
Catholic Reflection On That City’s History - Saturday, September 29, 2012 - 9:00 a.m.
-12:00 noon. The walk begins at St. Paul’s Catholic Church. It is a walking trail that
chronicles the history of the trade of enslaved
people from Africa to Virginia until 1775, and away from Virginia, especially Richmond, to other locations
in the Americas until 1865. This event is co-sponsored by Office of Justice & Peace, Office for Black Catholics, and
Pax Christi Richmond. For more info, contact Jay Brown at 804-545-5975 or Michael Stone at 804-205-7832. A bus will
take participants between stops, but everyone must be able
to walk at least one mile over uneven ground. Stops include Manchester Docks, major slave trade port in Richmond,
Lumpkin’s Jail where enslaved families were torn apart, and Negro Burial Ground where many slaves were executed.
Maps to St. Paul’s can be obtained from the parish office.
In the Diocese of Richmond, preparation for First
Reconciliation (Penance) and First Eucharist (Communion) typically takes place in the second grade or
above. Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation typically takes place in the 10th grade or above. Both
preparation programs will be beginning soon. If you have
a child who may be preparing for sacraments this year, you should register today for Generations of Faith (if you haven’t done so already). To do so now, go to www.sttheresechesva.org. You can register online
there, as well as see the schedules for sacramental preparation. We’re very excited about the response to this
year’s Christian Formation program, which will be focusing
on Catholic Social Teaching. This year’s Intergenerational Gatherings will be conducted in one session each month,
giving us an opportunity to learn together as community. Everyone is welcome! To learn more, and to
register before the upcoming deadline, go to
www.sttheresechesva.org.
