Introduction

Welcome to my eBook!

If you are reading this you’re probably considering help. I know this can be a difficult decision to make, a leap of faith.

You’ve built your business from scratch and it can be hard to hand over even the smallest piece of that control. You don’t know me, you don’t know my abilities and this, after all, is your passion! Believe me, I understand - there aren’t many hours of the day that aren’t filled with roaming thoughts and developing plans for OurOtherOffice.

There is plenty of information on my website but it is a difficult balance to sufficiently personalise that enough … so this is all about giving you a greater sense of me, my business and how I can help give you and your company the edge.

A few words about me are perhaps a good place to start – career Executive Assistant, enthused creative, strategic problem solver, marketing junkie, unashamed workaholic, eternally calm, efficiency seeker, budding blogger, passionate about businesscopy, strong aversion to flapping, organiser extraordinaire, relentless bookworm, motivation/ positivity sponge, team player/leader/ cheerleader, Classics graduate, adoring parent, exasperating wife, loyal friend, gardening crazy, eternal seeker of selfimprovement and …

… passionate about how I can improve your life, business and available free time!

Happy reading, Julie

Why Are You An Entrepreneur?

There are a host of reasons why people take the leap. Some people will definitely think you are insane, sometimes you will

even think this yourself! It is HARD and often thankless but there are things that make this the only option for you ...

Unconventional Ideas This job requires imagination and often a little sprinkling of ‘random’

A Brain That Never Stops Relentlessly seeing the world the way they want it to be, not just satisfied with the way it is

Box, What Box?Feeling wholly unsatisfied with work that relegates you to the side-lines or the background

Traditional 9-5 RoutineThis is not about slacking off, rather having the freedom to work at 2am when inspiration strikes

An Eternal Journey Entrepreneurs are never satisfied with the knowledge they have, they are always seeking more

Ultimately, living a few years of your life like most people won’t so that you can spend the rest of your life like most people

can’t

But, It Isn’t All Plain Sailing

There’s no doubt about it – becoming an entrepreneur has some serious advantages. As an entrepreneur you can choose work

you love, adjust your own sails, set your own hours and define your own path.

But we must also be realistic about the pitfalls!

Administration Owning your own business comes with a LOT of time consuming paperwork

CompetitionStaying competitive is critical as a small business owner

IsolationIt can be lonely to be completely responsible for the success or failure of your business

Financial InsecurityBeing an entrepreneur often means giving up the security of a regular salary

The HoursThe work schedule of an entrepreneur can, and WILL, be unpredictable

When Should You Consider Help?

At some point along your growth journey you will need to consider help. Without it you will hinder your own progress to the

next stage, or perhaps even ensure you slip backwards. Get out of your own way and look out for the signs …

The Bulk Of Your Time Is Not Revenue ProducingAre you spending the majority of time on administration rather than your real skill set?

You’re Losing SleepAre you waking in the middle of the night worrying about the many jobs left undone?

Things Are Falling Through The Cracks You’ve got so many projects in flight and people you need to communicate with that you can’t keep track

You’re Living In Your InboxAre you spending all of your time unsuccessfully taming your Outlook?

You Are Managing, Not Leading Focus on the next step in your growth - managing the day to day is a waste of your talent

Don’t let your busy start showing in missed deadlines and unhappy/ lost customers

So, Enough Waffle! How Can I Help?

I’m going to come right out and say that working effectively with a virtual assistant is not JUST about outsourcing tasks. It’s

part of it, but if that is the entirety of what you want you are severely limiting the potential of the partnership.

A Long Term Partnership Someone who knows you, your business goals, your clients and your needs - an invaluable relationship

A Font Of KnowledgeFew small business professionals have as varied and business centric knowledge/ skillset as a great VA, use them!

A Source Of Great Suppliers Worried that your VA might not have the skills you need – someone in their network will

A Real Business PartnershipA sounding board, a support, a fresh set of eyes, an impartial source of ideas, an advocate in every sense of the word

Doubtful? If you are reading this thinking, “I would never use my VA like this”

It may be time to consider that you have not yet found the perfect partnership for you/ your business

No paid coffee/lunch breaksNo NIC’s

No Bupa/ DIS/ pension/ sick days No temp agencies

No VAT

How Invaluable Would Fully

Flexible &

Scalable Professional Assistance Be?
