‘Eagles of the Second World War: Luftwaffe’, is a team effort undertaken by several authors, each one an expert in their respective area of knowledge and members of our Modeling and History series.

This book is a reference guide and handbook about the Luftwaffe and four of its best World War II pilots. Whether you are a modeling enthusiast or a history lover, you will find throughout its pages a compilation of contemporary photographs, aircraft profiles, step-by-step painting processes, modeling renders, medals and symbology of Luftwaffe aircraft during the phases of the war.

As regards the chapters about history, we have relied on José A. Márquez, a World War II historian, a widely recognized writer who possesses an expert knowledge regarding the pilots and their lives. As an author of several books on the period, Márquez has contributed fascinating general and biographical information regarding the different squads, missions, victories, and fates of the aces.

As if this were not enough, for the modeling section of the work, we have precisely recreated the figures of Walter Ehle, Josef ‘Pips’ Priller, Erich ‘Bubi’ Hartmann and Hans-Joachim Marseille at a 1:32 scale, as well as the most iconic sections of their aircraft.

The world of modeling is constantly evolving. For this reason, just like in any other discipline, it is very important that all of us use the tools we have at our disposal. In this book, we reveal the 3D modeling techniques we employed to create the models (figures and tails).

Part of this project is a recreation of Luftwaffe history at a 1:32 scale. Walter Ehle, Josef ‘Pips’ Priller, Erich ‘Bubi’ Hartmann and Hans-Joachim Marseille come to life, accompanied by sections of their mythical aircraft. Thanks to period documentation and photographs, we have succeeded in capturing a maximum realism and plausibility in the faces and clothing of each character, as well as recreating the finest details of their aircraft. In this way we present four completely distinct new vignettes, which together form an interesting, beautiful, and lifelike reproduction for collectors.

We also wanted to provide you the opportunity to get these same characters in bust form at a 1:10 scale. At this size, we were able to give the characters an even greater detail, allowing the painter to enjoy the maximum realism offered by this larger scale.

For this part of the project, we have made use of an extensive working group. Professionals representing the different modeling disciplines have contributed all their passion and creativity in order to achieve outstanding vignettes and busts, never-before-seen in terms of both quality and realism. Without these great design, production, modeling and painting professionals, a project of this magnitude would not have been possible. Thank you all. The story of these four aces is magnificently depicted in these vignettes. In these vignettes, we find an infinite number of documented details, which we could not have captured without the latest 3D modeling and printing technologies. The quality of the resin finishes and the realism of the parts are outstanding.

For this project, we have also added new products to our well-known range of paints. We’ve created four fantastic boxes for our Soilworks series, with all the material you need to recreate the setting of the seasons in your models, mock-ups, and figures.
