Object: To engineer and develop a thermoforming machine system to produce stone & brick look Vinyl Siding. New development from OMG… Stone& brick vinyl siding panel machine model RV 114 BK… Another first in the thermoforming industry from the futuristic and pioneering mind of OMG internal engineering. Not long after developing machines for continuous forming of cooling tower filters (and many other custom projects), this time OMG has designed, developed, built, and tested a revolutionary thermoforming machine able to produce, starting from roll-fed PVC plastic rolls, a stone / brick wall panel ready to use!!! Amazing!!!

Machine working cycle: As shown in the video our machine system is made up of 8 different stations in line, and the transition between one station and the other is performed by a servomotor driven pin chains moving through hardened extruded rails.

first station is the machine unwind system with nip roller drive to feed the thermoforming machine pin chain servo index system. At the input end of the thermoforming machine, there is an edge pre-heat (Contact heat) system that softens heavy gauge materials (in this case .080” thick PVC) before entering the pin chains, to allow for easy piercing of material.

Second station is made up of retractable (top and bottom) oven. The oven system heats the material to be thermoformed by means of ceramic infrared elements, each is individually controlled, allowing precise control and penetration to the surface of the sheet. All controlled and adjusted from the operator HMI touch screen.

Third station is the forming station (press) where a temperature controlled vacuum mold forms the shape of the vinyl siding panels. The original request is for three different shapes, and an infinite amount of configurations/shapes can be added in the future, by changing the vacuum molds.

Fourth station is a vertical die cutting press where the panels are divided, only longitudinally, one to the other with heated knives.

Fifth station is a cross cutting device to shape the panels across the sense of the index direction. This station is equipped with vacuum cup end of arm robotic system that transfers the panels into a second transfer system (also indexed by two chains moved with a servomotor).

Sixth station is a counting and accumulation device where it is possible to accumulate and count the products produced.

Seventh station (where the panels are transferred from the sixth station with a vacuum cup end of arm robotic system). This device (station) produces the bends in the panels, that allow the panels to mesh together (interlock) when workers nail the panels to homes.

Eighth station is the last station where the perforations (nail strip) is made in the length of the panels that will allow the end users to nail the panels on siding of houses. This station is also provides stacker doors that discharge panels onto a movable conveyor where the products are counted and discharged from the machine.
