INTRA SCHOOL EVENT
Theme based Special Assembly A Theme based special assembly was conducted on 01st Nov 2017 by Thimayya House
on the theme: “Cooperation- Be Social & Adaptive” in which a speech was delivered and skit
was performed by the middle section students.
Special Assembly Special assembly was conducted on 03rd Nov 2017 by Thimayya House to mark the
GurunanakDevJi‟s Birthday Celebration in which a speech was delivered by senior section
student and cultural display was performed by the students.
Children's Day APS Birpur celebrated Children‟s Day in a very grand manner. Special morning
assembly was conducted by the teachers. It began with the thought of the day, pledge, NLP
code and news by senior and middle wing teachers and Qawwali and dance by primary wing
teachers. Children enjoyed very much. Later on, a magic show was conducted for the primary
and middle wing students while class IX, X, XI and XII went to multiplex to watch the English
Movie „THOR‟. Children thoroughly enjoyed both the shows.After the movie and the magic
show, the students had a community lunch with their class teachers. It was thoroughly a true
children day for all.
Children's Day Celebration at
Pacific Mall. As an initiative of commerce department of APS Birpur, a stall of handicraft items
prepared by APS Birpur students was put up on the occasion of Children‟s Day at Pacific Mall
by the “Shining Star Company Pvt Ltd” students under their field project being run in schoolby
them.
The highlights of the stall of APS Birpur were the handicraft items and beautiful artifactsmade
out of waste items & it garnered great response and appreciation from public and children. It
also led to sensitization of public on „waste management‟ which is the need of the hour.
This initiative was taken so as to develop interpersonal skills, life skills, 21st century skills
amongst APS Birpur students and at the same time to sensitize them towards CSR. Basically it
was a fund raising activity for generating fund which was later donated for the noble cause.
Career counselling on admission in
Medicine in foreign Universities: Charles University is a world class University for medical aspirants,the 19th oldest in the
world established on 7th April 1348 by the king Charled 4th in Czech Republic.APS Birpur
invited representative of Charles University to give presentation to the Medical Students of
class XI & XII on 8th Nov 2017.Students were apprised about the academic session,fee
structure,scholarship availabe,boarding lodging facility available at the University and how
they could apply to the University.It was an exposure given to our medical students which has
led students to brain storm the possiblity of applying at various foreign Unversities for
undergraduate courses.Over all it was an ennriching experience for the students.
“One Nation One Reading” : Reading is important because it develops the mind and language skills. It expands the
vocabulary. Reading develops the creative side of people. Looking into the same on 24th Nov
2017 APS Birpur became a part of National event on Reading “One Nation One Reading”
which was organized by Scholastic Book Publisher PvtLtd. In light of promoting reading habits
the learners were asked to get a book from their home. A graffiti wall was created outside
every class. The students read stories and drew its cover page along with the value learnt. In
addition, they wrote new terms. They were also asked to think of a different ending. Every
creation was pasted on the graffiti wall. In a nutshell,ittriggered their writing skills & primer of
imagination.They also learnt different usage of words.
INTER SCHOOL PARTICIPATION
Inter SchoolQuiz at Cambrian Hall School: APS Birpur participated in a quiz competition on 3rd Nov 2017 which was held at
Cambrian Hall School, Dehradun.A total of 28 teams from eminent schools like
RIMC,SummerValley,from Dehradun and schools from ,Rishikesh, Haridwar and Mussoorie
participated . The team consisted of three students namely Rohini Sharma XII-D, Manu
Agarwal XII-A and AbhinavSemwal X A.The quiz included topics like current affairs, history,
sports, geography, audio and video etc. Overall it was a great learning experience for the
children.
Quiz AtJaswant Modern School APS Birpur participated in Inter School Quiz competition organised by Jaswant Modern
School, Dehradun on 9 Nov 2017.Total 25 schools of Dehradun participated. The final round
comprised of rapid five current affairs, history and culture, sports and general. The school
teamcomprising of Aditya Sati of cl VIII, ArnavBachheti of cl VIII and ManasThapa of cl
VIIbagged 4thposition Thementor of the team was MrsNeetu Kant Uniyal.
Katran (Waste Management Progamme) APS Birpur, Dehradun participated in PAHAL(A unit of Art of creativity society) Katran.
More than 400 students from16 schools from Dehradun participated in the competetion.APS
Birpur stood IInd in 11thStd category (Home Decor) .The contest was strictly on the spot. The
final designed products were evaluated by a panel of independent judges from design field.
Certificates were given to every participant.
OUTREACH PROGRAMME
School runs a number of outreach programmes in the school to make its students
sensitized towards the needs of the deprived and unprivileged so as to make them empathetic.
Visit to APNA GHAR. Under the outreach programme, class XI D of APS Birpurvisited APNA GHAR, “A home
for needy” on 20th Nov 2017. They donated dry ration collected by the students of the school
with the money, which they had raised by putting up a stall on Children‟s Day at Pacific Mall.
Students rejoiced during their visit and had a very good learning experience. Many children
became emotional listening to the stories of the deprived.
ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME Visit to a Book Fair
APS Birpur, students celebrated the Library month with several activities.Firstly, there
was a bookmark task,Secondly, the students enthusiastically visited the Book fair where they
participated in an open quiz, in which our school won 7 prizes out of 10. They also had fortune
to meet Mr Ruskin Bond. The occasion ended with a good note of learning with fun for all.
Workshop on Teaching Learning Social Sciences. The CBSE conducted two days workshop on “Challenges in teaching in Social
Sciences” at Army Public School Birpur Dehradun for teachers of CBSE affiliated schools as
part of intensive training from 3 and 4 November 2017. The resource persons were Mrs. Anita
Raturi, Principal, Foothills Academy Senior Secondary School, Rishikesh and Mr. Dheraj Singh
HOD Pragyan Public School, Delhi. 50 teachers from various prestigious schools attended this
informative session. It was inaugurated by Col. A.K Thakur, Education Officer, 116 Infantry
Brigade and Mrs. Bindu Sharma, Principal APS Birpur, Dehradun.
15. The workshop included teaching- learning in social science in light of NCF 2005,
position papers NCERT, methods and strategies in teaching and understanding of educational
objectives in this new era of education in Social Sciences. The workshop carried out intensive
practice session in lesson planning and preparation of lesson plans, drafting of test and
assessments, understanding blooms taxonomy educational objectives and different ways of
teaching Social Sciences in interesting ways. School Chairman Brigadier VivekLal, Sena
Medal felicitated the speakers with school mementos. At the end certificates were distributed
to all participating teachers.
Workshop on Teaching Learning –change with time.
Teachers of APS Birpur participated in a Programme on learning –change with time sponsored by Latika foundation on 25th Nov 2017 in Doon School at Dehradun . The main focus was on the children who are denied their right to education healthcare and place in the community and how the parents and schools can help children with special needs in an innovative activity based learning.
EDUCATIONAL VISITS
VISIT TO FRI (Forest Reasearch Institute) Under educational visit Cl- IX students of APS Birpur visited FRI on 09th Nov 2017 to
enrich and connectthemselves totheir history chapter on Forest Society and Colonialism and
the Geography chapter on Natural Vegetation and wildlife. Students visited allthe museums of
FRI where they learned different concepts related to their chapters.
VISIT TO BAJAJ INSTITUTE :
On 25th Nov 2017 students of class VIII of APS Birpurvisited the Winter Carnival held at
Bajaj Institute of learning for Deaf. There were stalls of games, handicrafts and eatables. The
children were explained what the institute meant for and also about the sign language they
used. There were mesmerizingperformances by the students of the institute. Students
participated in the different activities held and it was a good learning experience for them.
An Educational Trip to the Village
Panchayatof Bhagwantpurwas organized for
the students of class XI under thestudy of the Panchayatiraj in
Political Science.This was organized to give them an insight into the actual working of
Panchayat.The students interviewed the Pradhan, ShriMahendra and asked him few questions
related to development of the area.
ACHIEVEMENTS
The Fall Book Festival: APSBirpur participated in thePainting Competition organized during fall book festival On
5th Nov 2017 under two categories the junior and the senior category. The theme of the
painting was based on the festivals main title, „Imagine‟ which meant painting based on the
participant‟s imagination.PiyushaSwarnkar of XI-B won the Painting Competition in the senior
category, and received a certificate andRs 2000 giftvoucher, to buy books .
Painting Competetion on Uttarakhand
Sthapana Diwas: AnkitaRawat of class XI from APS Birpur participated in a painting competition held
during the celebration of UttarakhnadSthapana Diwas. She bagged the first cash prize of Rs
2000/-in the Painting Competition and was given away the certificate and cash prize by Shri
Vinod Chamoli , Mayor/MLA.
Quiz Conducted by Election Commission A Quiz was organized by CBSE and conducted by State Election Commission on 19-
11-2017 at MKP Degree College,Dehradun where 326 schools got themselvesregistered from
all the 13 Districts of Uttarakhand.It was a written quiz and APS Birpur team comprised of Lijin
Nair of X-C AND SakshiRawat of XI-D.
School Quiz League. On 25th November 2017 t,e city round of school quiz league 2017-18 was held at
Solitaire Hotel Dehradun.Almost 900students participated in the same. Schools from all over
Dehradun, Mussoorie, HaridwarRoorkee, Rudrapur, Kashipur and surrounding areas were a
part of the event.APSBirpur also participated in the Quiz Competition The first round was a
written one followed by a main quiz between top six teams.APSBirpur bagged the third position
in both the categories.
The junior team of APS Birpur included ArnavBachhetti of 8th Class and Manas of
7thclass.The senior team of APS Birpur consisted of Rohini Sharma of XII-D and Manu
Agarwal of XII A both the teams were guided by school quiz co-ordinator MrsNeetu Kant
Uniyal.
CBSE National Boxing Tournament CBSE National Boxing Tournament was held at Rohtakin which 7 Boys and 4 girls from
APS Birpur participated where MsSavita wona bronze in 42-45 kg category andMsSimran won
a bronze in 46-50 kg category.The tournament witnessed participation of around 3000
students.
U-17 Federation State Football Tournament In the U-17 Federation State Football Tournament APS Birpur won District Level
Tournament. 2 students named SagarAdhikari and BimalKunwarChhetrihave been selected for
the state level.
Nyay Panchayat The school team of Army Public School Birpur took part in
NyayPanchayatStahriyaPratiyogita and bagged the following medals U -17 boys in various

World Education Summit (WES).
MrsBindu Sharma, Principal of Army Public School attended two days “WES” World
EducationSummit organized by “EletsTechnomedia Publication” from26th- 27th November,
atHotel Le Meridian, Dubai. The two days summit witnessed the conferences, exhibitions,
workshops and an award ceremony. It provided a wonderful opportunity to stakeholders in the
field of education, all over the world, to create opportunities of progress at all levels – global,
national and regional. Delegates from all around the world attended the various sessions
spread out in two days. MrsBindu Sharma (Principal) was invited as speaker in the Round
table discussion and she was also a part of panel discussion on “Green School” which talked
about the Sustainable environment friendly schools which are gaining momentum in many
parts of the world. By ensuring efficient use of resources, healthy environment, an ecological
curriculum, nutritious food, sustainable community practices, many schools are building an
ecosystem which is a step closer in building futuristic environment -friendly school set up.
Overall it was an enriching experience.There will be three parallel tracks on School Education,
Higher Education, and Skill Development and Vocational Education. The summit will be
marked by conferences, exhibitions, workshops and an award ceremony. It will provide a
wonderful opportunity to stakeholders in the field of education, all over the world, to create
