THEARC COMMUNITY MEETING ROOM
THEARC is more than a building located in
Southeast Washington, DC; it is an anchor
facility within this community, offering
businesses, schools, and civic and community
groups a prime location for gatherings.
Organizations and groups outside the
Southeast DC community are welcome
to host meetings at THEARC and discover
the beauty and potential Southeast DC
possesses.

The Community Meeting
Room can be configured
in an array of styles—
theater seating, classroom
setup with tables
and chairs, and conference style setup.
Maximum capacity for this room is 70
people. Keep in mind, the facility setup
determines the actual number of
participants this space can accommodate.
THEARC LOBBY
THEARC Lobby offers an inviting atmosphere
filled with natural light by day, complemented
by overhead lighting by night. Your event
can span the full breadth of the Lobby or
partitions can create a more intimate setting
for your affair.
The Lobby can accommodate 200 standing
guests. For seated affairs, the area can
comfortably accommodate 10 round tables,
seating 10 people per table. Organizations or
groups must supply their own linens. For
receptions and luncheons, prep and setup areas
are available at an additional cost. THEARC
The Recital Hall can be configured in a variety
of styles—theater seating, classroom setup
with tables and chairs, conference style, and
banquet setup. Maximum capacity for this
room is 70 people. Keep in mind, the facility

accommodate.
THEARC RECITAL HALL
Overlooking the entrance to THEARC,
organizations and groups can creatively use
this space to host arts performances,
meetings, training sessions, and luncheons.
Located on the second floor of THEARC
facility, the Recital Hall is flooded with natural
light and a beautiful view that creates the
perfect ambiance for recitals, concerts, music
classes and more.

THEARC THEATER
Nationally renowned and locally grown
musicians, playwrights, directors, technicians,
and performers of all genres and performance
levels can shine in THEARC Theater. Operating
with the belief that access to arts and diverse
cultural activities is the essence of community
development, THEARC Theater is the first and
only theater in Washington, DC’s Ward 8.
It was created to provide DC residents living
east of the Anacostia River entertaining and
enlightening experiences that can impact their
lives and brighten their futures. Rental of the
365-seat venue includes lobby area, box office,
green room/performer lounge, and dressing
rooms. Other features include:
365-seat theater
Lobby can be rented separately from THEARC
Theater, or in conjunction with theater rental.
Lobby availability is subjected to the schedule
of theater productions.

Organizations or groups interested in
renting space at THEARC for meetings,
performances or special events should
contact Building Bridges Across the River
(BBAR) via the following email

Please provide the date(s) and time(s)
desired and a short description of the
event at the time of inquiry. A BBAR staff
person will contact you shortly thereafter
about your inquiry and the availability of
dates and times. Inquiries made via
email are preferred but if this is not
possible, reservation inquiries can also
be made via phone at 202-889-5901
during BBAR’s office hours of
Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Once you have confirmed that your
event date is available and on tentativehold, the next step is to fill out the
rental application available at
www.thearcdc.org or by picking up an
application from BBAR offices at
THEARC, 1901 Mississippi Avenue, SE,
Washington, DC 20020. Your event date will not be confirmed until the application and rental deposit are both received.
RENTAL DEPOSIT
THEARC Theater requires a deposit at the
time of application submission. A rental
deposit is not required for all other
spaces at THEARC with the exception of
THEARC Recital Hall when a piano is
needed. If a piano is needed when
THEARC Recital Hall is rented, a deposit
is required at the time of application
submission. Applications for THEARC
Theater and THEARC Recital Hall with
piano usage will not be accepted without
the required deposit.
PAYMENT DEADLINES:
All balances must be paid in full by
the deadlines listed below. If the full
balance is not paid by the deadline,
the renter automatically forfeits the
opportunity to utilize the facility.
ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS WILL
BE GRANTED.
THEARC Theater—Four weeks
(20 business days) prior to event
THEARC Community Meeting Room—
One week (5 business days) prior
to event
THEARC Lobby—Four weeks
(20 business days) prior to event
THEARC Recital Hall—Two weeks
(10 business days) prior to event
SETUP & CLEANUP
Organizations or groups renting space
at THEARC are responsible for the
following:
n Vacating the property at the
designated time and with the rental
area left in a clean, ordered and
secure manner.
n Organizations or groups providing
alcoholic beverages must secure
appropriate licensing for alcohol
distribution. A copy of such
license/permit is to be on file with
BBAR one week (5 business days)
prior to the event. Failure to have
license/permit on file with BBAR will
result in cancellation of event.
n THEARC is a nonsmoking facility
and all participants must adhere to
this policy.
BBAR reserves the right to permit or
deny any organization or group use of its
rental facilities.
Facility rental at THEARC is not availableon the following federal holidays:

Veterans’ Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day
In addition to the above dates, THEARC Theater is also not available for rental on:

BEAUTIFULLY SITUATED on well-manicured grounds in Southeast Washington, DC, the Town Hall Education Arts Recreation Campus (THEARC) offers cultural arts groups, businesses, schools, and civic and community organizations the perfect location for performances, special events, conferences and other gatherings. With ample free parking on well-lit grounds, THEARC is readily accessible from the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Maryland via car, taxi, or metro rail. Metro riders simply travel to the Southern Avenue Station on the Green Line and enjoy a short walk to THEARC, just 0.35 miles.
When traveling by bus, take the W2 or W3 and be dropped off right in front of THEARC. Bus 94 will let riders off at Savannah and19th Street for a short walk down the hill to THEARC. Bus 32 will drop riders off on Southern Avenue, just o.35 miles from THEARC.
