YOUTH ON SELF &
COUNTRY
YOUTH ON SELF“ We are engaged, optimistic, and the next breed of change-makers — and we want to help. But, sometimes, we are lazy, lack discipline
and can easily be tempted.

YOUTH ON COUNTRY
A Philippines that is united and crime-free…
…where young people are educated and their families enjoy a good life
…where real progress and development extend beyond city and town centers
“
YOUTH ON EDUCATION
YOUTH ON EDUCATION “Government is doing something right, but
it needs to do more in improving access to quality education through better roads in towns, increased peace and security, modern and appropriate resources, and enhanced teacher competencies and morale.

YOUTH ON EDUCATION
“With many dropping out because of the need to earn, it would be better for schools to provide flexible schedules and other arrangements for working students.

YOUTH ON EDUCATION
“Scholarships don’t include allowance for transportation and meals, especially for those from far-flung areas.
YOUTH ON EMPLOYMENT
YOUTH ON EMPLOYMENT
“Jobs available in towns offer low pay and underutilize skills, affecting our self-esteem.
And when companies open, they do not offer the same pay as our counterparts in
bigger cities. .
YOUTH ON EMPLOYMENT
“There’s limited micro-financing or access to credit for the youth to start their own
businesses, instead of looking for employment.

YOUTH ON EMPLOYMENT
“ The number and nature of available employment opportunities do not match
the number and courses of Filipino graduates.

YOUTH ON ENVIRONMENT
YOUTH ON ENVIRONMENT
“The desire to improve local economy doesn’t come with strict enforcement
of environmental laws and ordinances on businesses.

YOUTH ON ENVIRONMENT
“ There are many good environmental programs started
in schools and barangays but there’s no monitoring of their
sustainability.Credits: John Kit Masigan
YOUTH ON ENVIRONMENT
“ Environmental education is not strong in many schools. There’s also an inactive environmental
program in communities.

YOUTH ON ENGAGEMENT
YOUTH ON ENGAGEMENT
“Youth concerns are under- if not mis-represented in development processes.

YOUTH ON ENGAGEMENT
“Lack of support and financial resources for youth organizations, especially in the barangay level, limits impact and reach.
YOUTH ON ENGAGEMENT
“There prevails a mis/conception that government-related youth groups are highly vulnerable to corruption and political influence.
“I want a RECOMMENDA
TIONS
EDUCATION Government to work with schools for them to provide programs that would allow for the youth to work and study at the same time. Gather information regarding the status and needs of the youth in all localities; use the same as basis for national planning.
EMPLOYMENT Increase access to financing for young people through partnerships with local banks and credit/funding organizations. Develop a regional career guidance mechanism to assist the youth in selecting their coursesTie up with companies that can both give scholarships and be eventual employers.
ENVIRONMENT Develop a public inventory of area-specific environmental problems and efforts made to address them.
Institutionalize environmental education in all schools and barangays.
ENGAGEMENT Establish a youth group in every barangay. Require marginalized sector representation (IP, OSY) in development processes Partner with schools in the composition of government-related youth organizationsAdopt a centralized social media platform for youth-government engagement
