The Year of

GROWTH

Volume 28 Issue 49

DECEMBER 3, 2017

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good

stewards of God's varied grace

I Peter 4:10

Facebook, in November, is filled with posts in which people discuss

gratitude. It is a reminder of how blessed we are and the resources we

have available at our fingertips. God has blessed us with these resources

and expects us to use them for His glory. Being a good steward requires us

to be selfless, thoughtful and diligent.

Being selfless is not neglecting ourselves, but putting others first. Putting

others first could be as simple as holding a door for someone or allowing

someone to go before us in line. Simple acts of selfless kindness go a very

long way.

Thoughtfulness requires listening and planning. Take time to listen to the

people in your life, it is the best way to ensure that you are meeting their

needs. A good steward wants to use his resources efficiently and wisely.

Thinking through every possible scenario will help us make certain we are

being good stewards of what God has blessed us.

Finally, a good steward is diligent in all they do. Everything is done with a

purpose in mind and a projected outcome. Our challenge in scripture is to

serve each other with a sincere heart and not out of obligation. We need

to make sure our intent and our actions are in line with each other.

Vienna Toy Drive

As in years past our Yo Pro Group will be conducting a toy

drive for the Vienna Georgia community. We are asking for

new or gently used toys. These can be left in the crates in

Andy Miller’s Office. Money can also be donated to

purchase toys. The average household income in this

community is well below the poverty line. We have had

great success with this mission effort in the past and want

to thank everyone who has donated or helped.

LADS TO LEADERS

Lads to Leaders is a program that provides leadership training for our youth ages Pre-K to Senior in high school. We offer everything from public speaking, song leading, art, service projects, photography, web design, puppets, and many other categories. It culminates at a convention held at Opryland Hotel on March 29-31, 2018. Lads to Leaders information packets and pricing will be available next Sunday and registration will open online next Sunday. This is a great program and we hope everyone will be involved. If you would like a room at the hotel, we have a block of rooms at a reduced rate but they are first come first serve. If you would like a room, you must contact Jennifer Miller directly, and they will be assigned in the order that the requests are received. Convention is earlier this year so we will be starting practice earlier and closing registration earlier.

EQUIP

December 28-29 - Equip is for ages 6th grade and up. This is a very unique program focused on equipping our youth to be leaders in our church

and society. Broad Street Church of Christ will be joining us again this year. We will begin at 8:30 on Thursday morning and wrap up on Friday.

We will spend Thursday evening at the building. Please sign up at

www.southernhills.net/youth/forms.

Please have your kids eat dinner before they come. We will have a snack at the end of the activity. We will be caroling and delivering to several houses, so plan to dress warm. If you have any questions, see Cody or
