THE YARD Grade RR Schoolwork Senses / Sound Date: 18 – 22 May Please go through this schoolwork as best as you can. Reminder the Morning Ring, Story Time, Emotional Intelligence and Break time is done every day, these are additional activities. Daily Morning ring (Please see the ‘All Grades Daily Morning ring’ document for details) Sing Bible Songs and Nursery Rhymes NB: Days of the week NB: Weather: Seasons of the year Months of the year (Just go over – focus in Grade R) Birthday month and date (Just go over – focus in Grade R) NB: Counting Monday Let your child draw a face with details on a paper. Ask him/her what did they draw? Explain that there are senses on their face. Tell your child that we all have eyes to see, a nose to smell, ears to hear/listen, mouth to talk/taste/chew. This week we are talking about hearing. Tuesday Take three objects, two(spoon, cup and shoes) with sound and the one without any sound(sponge) , let your child see them. Ask your child to face the other way then make a sound with a spoon and a cup and ask him/her what did you hear? Is it loud or soft? Then make a sound with the sponge. Ask your child can he/she hear anything? Give your child sometime to think. Why is it not making any sound? You can also use drinking glasses; 1 full of water, 1 half-filled and 1 empty. Use something like a teaspoon to tap the side of each drinking glass. Let your child listen to the sounds and discuss what they hear. Wednesday Talk about a square. Let your child describe a square, four corners, four equal sides, it can't roll/bounce. When you fold a square once/in the middle what do you see? (2 rectangles) when you fold a square twice then you get (4 small squares). Let your child draw a square and colour it in. Thursday Let your child tell you things that he/she can hear. Example: music from a bazooka speaker, birds, music instruments, cellphone etc… Then give him/her a paper to draw them. Friday Physical activities: Help your to child to skip with any rope Bounce and catch a ball Throw and catch a ball Play boere sports: Put 5 stones in a row, 1 meter away from each other including a bowl to put them in. (make crosses where the stones are as they are going to put them back ) you can make more than 1 row so that it is a competition and it is fun. Let your child run and pick them up one by one putting them in a bowl. When all the stones are in the bowl, then he/she must put them back on the crosses. Then his/her siblings can also join in and have fun.

Monday

Let your child draw a face with details on a paper. Ask him/her what did they draw? Explain that
