Another headliner was the upcoming centennial anniversary of the independence day of the Philippines and the wait for the centennial baby or the babies to be born on exactly June 12, 1998. With Eraps recent win and the transition of presidents, he faced many problems and controversies left by the previous administration. The pork barrel issue was rampant during that time, and Eraps proposed solution was to give the hold from the congress to the executive department. Now we can see that it did not work and we still face the consequences of the lack of solution by the previous government. Another issue he faced was the ongoing construction of MRT-EDSA that was causing floods in Metro Manila. Even now, there are still floods and the upcoming construction of MRT 7 will only add to the problem of the flood control system. The goal in building MRT-EDSA was to alleviate traffic, but now traffic in EDSA is worse than before. Why is it that after all the new technologies and innovations that have happened in the past decade, the issues we had are still the same? Media and technology has thrived so much that anything you need to know is in the internet, but the solutions the Philippines need to solve its countless problems, is still not found. People are aware of what is happening and knows what to fight for, but despite this our government has turned a deaf ear in hearing our pleas. We cannot change what has already happened and we cannot cry over spilled milk. The current generation is suffering from the mistakes the past generations and administrations had made. What they did was only a one time solution and no long term solutions were made to prevent things from happening again. The only thing we can do now is to take the initiative to start the change we all want and need.

    Some Thing Never Change

It has been sixteen years, three months and four days (and counting) since the day I was born .So many things had happened and changed, but some things will always be the same.

May 31, 1998. All the rage was about the recent presidential elections and new president-elect Joseph "Erap" Ejrcito Estrada.

He also faced the problems of an energy crisis, a high number of unemployed Filipinos and the worsening of air pollution in Metro Manila, which again are still problems present to this day that still has no long term solution.
