Satan uses many methods to entrap the children of God

So what is armor?What does putting on the whole armor of God mean? Let us look at what the word armor mean: A covering worn to protect the body from weapons and a defense against the enemy, Ephesians 6:11 “Put on the whole armor of God that ye may be able to stand against wiles of the devil”. This is a warning in the writing of Paul that we need a defense against the devil. Wiles are the devil’s tricks and deceit he uses against us. The devil comes to us in different ways such as a serpent for deceit, a lion to devour us, a wolf to tear us from God and a dragon to totally destroy us.


We must arm ourselves against him in order to be saved and win a victory over him. Ephesians 6:12, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” It is important to see that our enemy is a spirit who is invisible to us and has great power. We cannot fight him as we would a man! Let us look further to see why.

The evil days can come at any time in a person’s life

Our BattleWe are protected with the full armor of God because it helps us to with stand in the evil days that comes upon us. This is why God told us in Ecclesiastes 12:1 “Remember now thy creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them.” Evil days can come any time in our lives; if we keep the full armor of God on we can with stand against the wiles of the devil.


The WeaponsOur loins must be girt with the truth. Your loins must be girt which is like a belt around your waist. A belt not only keeps your clothes on but holds you straight so that you won’t waver from the left to the right. If you do not have the truth you cannot stand against Satan, James 1: 6&8.

You must have the breast plate of righteousness on. The breast plate covers the heart and we must have a heart to obey God. We should not have a hard heart like Israel of old did and did not obey God, Hebrews 3:7-13.


WeaponsOur feet should be shod with the preparation of the gospel. In other words we must walk in the path of righteousness and follow after Christ. As we walk Satan is like a court jester trying to lure you off the path of righteousness, Psalm 23:2, Isaiah 52:7.

You must have the shield of faith which is strong belief in God never wavering. Satan will not be able to cast doubt because the shield of faith will block doubt and will stop those fiery darts that he will try and put in your mind, 1 John 5:4, Hebrews 11:1


In order to fight the good fight we must wear the complete

armor of God

WeaponsThe helmet of salvation prevents the fiery darts of the devil from penetrating our minds and allowing us to hear only the word of God, 1 Thessalonians 5:8.

The sword of the Spirit which is the word of God must be sharp at all times by studying the bible, worshipping God and incorporating his word in your daily life. We should meditate on the laws of God and keep his word as a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path, Psalm 119: 97,105-106.


Reading the bible is key to being able to use the spiritual sword

Remember the word of God is a two edged sword, Hebrews 4:12. “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”If we lack any of the armor of God we cannot defeat Satan and he will come to us first as a serpent a lion a wolf and a dragon to deceive, devour destroy and separate us from God.
