Ni Hao!

Welcome to Wendy Wei Tours and it’s my pleasure to introduce you to The Ultimate

Guangxi Adventure!

The Ultimate Guangxi Adventure is as the name suggests –the Ultimate way to

experience Southern China’s spectacular Guangxi Province. From the natural beauty of

the Li River and its surrounding Karst scenery, to spectacular rice terraces, traditional

minority-culture villages, experiencing real Chinese life and much more, the Ultimate

Guangxi Adventure encompasses a diverse range of experiences.

The specific aim of this tour adventure was to create a unique, private, personalized and

high-quality itinerary where visitors can experience Southern China from a different

perspective –not just a tourist perspective!

Often the highlights of ones travels are from the experiences rather than just simply the

same photos taken at the same spot as millions who have visited before you. The

Ultimate Guangxi Adventure offers both! With a mixture of beautiful scenery (the Li

River, Ancient Towns, Longji Rice Terraces) and a unique China experience (Family

home visits, Genuine Off-the-beaten-track destinations), the Ultimate Guangxi

Experience is a one-of-a-kind type adventure and I welcome you to experience it all for

yourself!

Kind Regards

Wendy Wei

Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1 Arrive in Guilin

Upon arrival at Guilin Liangjiang Airport, I will be holding a sign with your

name(s) on it! Depending upon your arrival time, you will either be transferred

directly to Yangshuo in private transportation. The first afternoon and evening

will be at leisure in and around Yangshuo.

Stay overnight at THE MOONDANCE BOUTIQUE HOTEL

For further details please review the ACCOMMODATION DETAILS section below.

6

DAY 2 Yangshuo (Breakfast &Lunch Included)

Today, you will experience the wonders of Yangshuo. In the morning, I will meet

you at the Moondance Boutique Hotel’s lobby and transfer you to Xianggong Hill

(please note, if requested this can be arranged at sunrise for early birds/keen

photographers!). Xianggong Hill is located along a section of the Li River and

provides breathtaking views overlooking the river and surrounding countryside.

Following the visit to Xianggong Hill, you will get onboard your own Private

Raft and travel downstream on the Li River.

After lunch at a local countryside restaurant (which is popular amongst Guilin

locals who travel on the weekend), we will return to Yangshuo and explore some

of the less popular tracks via bicycle.

During the evening, we will travel into West Street, which is the hive of all

activity in Yangshuo before travelling to watch the Impression 3rd Sister Liu

Show following dinner. At the show’s conclusion, you will be transferred back

to the Moondance Boutique Hotel.

.DAY 3 Around Yangshuo (Breakfast &Dinner Included)

The destination today is Huangyao Town –an Ancient Town located 120 kms

(2 hours) South-East of Yangshuo in Shaoping County. With over 1,000 years

of history and featuring traditional pavilions, houses, temples and road this is

one of the traditional ‘gems’ of Guangxi Province. The town is surrounded by

karst mountains and one can explore the narrow streets whilst imagining China

during dynasties gone past.

We will return to Yangshuo in the evening and partake in the Yulong River

Rafting when the river is a little quieter before enjoying a meal whilst

overlooking the crowds of West Street. At the meal’s conclusion, return transfer

to the Moondance Hotel.

DAY 4 Yangshuo - Liuzhou (Breakfast &Dinner Included)

After checking out of the hotel, we will travel to Liuzhou (approximately 3

hours) and from this point, begin to see a very different China! Liuzhou City has

in the past been a heavy industrial city but industry has begun to move as the

city develops. Similar to Guilin, the city itself is surrounded by karst scenery but

unlike Guilin, Yangshuo & Longsheng, it’s a non-touristy city in full-speed

development! Upon arriving at Liuzhou, we will transfer you to the Radisson Blu

Hotel for check-in before visiting Longtan Park.

Longtan Park is one of the city parks set amongst beautiful karst scenery. You

will see a true Chinese-park where many locals relax during the afternoon

enjoying various different activities. For dinner, if interested, we will travel to

‘Mama & Papa’ Wei’s House (I’m originally from Liuzhou) for a traditional meal.

I welcome you to ask my parents any questions you may have about their lives

as they’ve experienced everything from the Cultural Revolution to the opening

up of China and modernization. Following dinner, return transfer to Radisson

Blu Hotel.

DAY 5 Liuzhou (Breakfast, Dinner & Tea Ceremony Included)

Today, we will spend the day in and around the city center as well as explore

the city park’s, its wet markets, museums, roadside vendors and cafes. In a city

with a population of over 4 million people, on most days (outside of the hotel)

one would be unlikely to see another foreigner!

Moreover, many people within Liuzhou have only ever seen a handful of

foreigners before, making the whole experience very unique and foreign (unlike

all major cities in China).

During the evening, we will drink tea in an authentic Chinese tea house with

tea ceremony and if interested, spend some time either walking around the city

or visiting a local Mahjong parlour and learn and experience Chinese people’s

favourite pastime!

DAY 6 Liuzhou - Sanjiang (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included)

For Day 6, we will travel from Liuzhou to Sanjiang, which involves

approximately 4 hours spent in transit. We will stopover at Rong’an to break up

the journey. Rong’an is a small (but growing!) town located between Liuzhou

and Sanjiang.

Upon arriving in Sanjiang during the afternoon, we will check in to the hotel

and relax.

In the evening, we will enjoy dinner followed by a night’s stroll around Sanjiang

Town. Walk around the Sanjiang Drum Tower and experience a typical

evening’s family activities in a quiet Guangxi Town!

11

DAY 7 (OPTION 1) Around Sanjiang (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included)

The destination today is Gaoding Dong Village – an original Dong Village located

in the mountains near Guizhou and Hunan Provinces. This village is well off the

beaten track and very rarely visited by outsiders, let alone tour groups due to

its remote location.

The village itself is set in a steep valley and primarily consists of beautiful and

traditional Dong housing as well as Drum Towers throughout the village. We will

explore the village in addition to the nearby Dudong Village on the way back to

Sanjiang. Enjoy a 1 hour foot massage during the evening.

12

DAY 7 (OPTION 2) Around Sanjiang (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included)

In the morning, we will travel to the Chengyang Dong Villages –home to many

Dong Minority families, traditional architecture and the famous Chengyang

Wind and Rain Bridge.

We will explore the villages by foot and visiting dates coincide with ‘market day’

dates, we will visit a local Dong market. In the afternoon and evening, simply

relax in this peaceful area encompassed by nature and Dong Minority culture.

DAY 8 Sanjiang – Ping’an (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included)

After checking-out, we will travel from Sanjiang to the Longji Zhuang Village

at the Longji Rice Terraces. Upon arrival, we will visit a local Zhuang family

and eat a local specialty (Bamboo Chicken) –or other meals, if requested, in

their house.

Following lunch, we will hike the quieter route from the Longji Zhuang Village

to Ping’an Village and enjoy the spectacular views overlooking the Rice Terraces!

Stay overnight at THE LI’AN LODGE

13

(OPTIONAL EXTRA DAY) Ping’an (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included)

Today, we have a few choices that you can choose from. Either we can hike

from Ping’an to Zhongliu Village (or even further to Dazhai Village) or we can

travel to Dazhai by car and visit the larger ‘Jinkeng Rice Terraces’ and take a

cable car up the mountain.

Both options provide good choices and can be tailored accordingly.

During the early afternoon, we will travel to the Longsheng Hot Springs and

relax in the natural springs. Before nightfall, we will transfer back to Ping’an

and walk or be carried by porters back to the Li’an Lodge.

Dinner at the Li’an Lodge will be followed by your evening at leisure.

DAY 9 – Ping’an - Guilin (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included)

After checking out from the Li’an Lodge, we will travel to Guilin and explore

the city known in an Ancient Chinese poem as ‘…the most beautiful under

heaven’.

The journey from the Rice Terraces to Guilin takes approximately 2+ hours and

depending upon departure time will determine the day’s scheduled activities.

On the way to Guilin, we will visit the Reed Flute Cave –one of the most famous

landmarks within the city. Thereafter, transfer to your hotel (The White House)

for check-in.

During the evening, we will partake in a home-visit to ‘Auntie Wei’s’ house (my

Aunt’s house) and learn from her how to cook homemade dumplings –from

market visit to preparation and eating!

Afterwards, return transfer to the city centre, where we’ll explore the city lakes

as well as the popular night streets within Guilin City.

DAY 10 –Guilin (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included)

Today, we will begin the morning by travelling to Daxu Old Town and exploring

this Old Town located on the banks of the Li River. Thereafter, return to Guilin

and visit Yao Mountain –the highest peak overlooking Guilin City OR Fubo Hill.

Depending upon flight departure details, return to Guilin and further explore

the city, get a massage, visit additional destinations etc.

At the end of the tour, you will be transferred to the airport and say goodbye

to your Ultimate Guangxi Adventure with Wendy Wei!
