GET BEHIND THE WHEEL.

You’ll enter your VNM cab via self-

cleaning, anti-slip steps that are slightly

offset so you can see them better. A

door panel entry light helps you watch

your step at night. We’ve made the door

extra wide for easy access, with two

grab handles mounted inside the cab

and out of the rain for a better grip.

To help prevent accidents, our standard-

equipped ABS system provides greater

control during emergency braking. And

suspended foot pedals keep your feet

from getting tangled between the brake,

clutch or accelerator.

The VNM’s panoramic, one-piece wind-

shield gives you over 2,000 square

inches of viewing area, so you’ll see

more of the road and more of your

truck. And the sloped hood and sloping

side windows help you stay aware of

close-range hazards.

Each exterior element – from the sloped hood and windshield to the

recessed door handles and wedge-shaped headlights – has been

sculpted and streamlined for the lowest possible drag coefficient. And

the welded cab means that there are no rivets to catch the wind and

slow you down. The result? You’ll spend less on fuel. A lot less.

VNM TRUCKS ARE HARDER TO BREAK. AND EASIER TO FIX.

Volvo VNM trucks are designed to be efficient with your time, too.

Windshields are roped in, so there’s no overnight wait for glue to dry if

repairs are needed. Break-away mirror arms lower the risk of impact

damage. Rubber isolators allow the hood to flex independent of the cab,

resulting in less component stress. A three-piece bumper allows easy

end cap replacement. And the adjustable cab door hinges are

positioned out of the weather so they’ll last longer.

SERVICE IS FASTER BECAUSE IT’S SMARTER.

All daily service checks can be performed from the ground. The hood

release is on the steering column, so you can reach it without climbing

into the cab. Fill sites are on the “cool” side of the engine. Weekly

service checks are just as simple. Chassis fairings open outward for

quick access to the batteries and air tanks. Batteries are located close

to the starter for higher cranking voltage and longer component life.

Inside the cab, the engine cover can be quickly removed without taking

out the seats or floor mats.

SOPHISTICATED SAFETY FEATURES ARE

STANDARD EQUIPMENT.

Each VNM cab surrounds you with High-Strength Steel, for the highest

strength-to-weight ratio in the industry. In the event of frontal impact, a

system of protective measures is designed to take over. Engine mounts

release so the engine and transmission are pushed down under the cab.

The steering column collapses, and special knee panels absorb impact.

Doors have been tested to stay closed during a collision, but can still be

opened afterwards. And the windshield can be kicked out for

emergency exit.

AN AERODYNAMIC DESIGN FOR BETTER FUEL EFFICIENCY.

You’ll appreciate the smooth ride of your VNM sleeper or daycab. Thesetrucks are designed for comfort, from the air suspension to the spacious,well-appointed cab. So enjoy the peace and quiet. You’ve earned it.

Volvo’s smooth, comfortable ride begins with a multi-directional air

suspension system, with air bags mounted outside the frame rails for extra

stability. Vertical and lateral heavy-duty shock absorbers soften the bumps

and minimize sway. The steering wheel is designed for the best possible grip,

and an energy-absorbing steering column prevents road vibration from

reaching your hands. For individual positioning, the steering wheel tilts from

0º to 32º and telescopes a full 4.5”. You’ll also have a choice of seating

options for customized comfort and support.

THE VNM CAB: A DRIVER’S DREAM.

Superior insulation and soundproofing keeps the cab as quiet as most

passenger cars, which means you’ll enjoy better concentration and less

fatigue while driving. An advanced climate control system maintains a

comfortable cab temperature, and strategically placed air vents circulate

fresh air. Cab doors are double sealed to keep out water, wind and noise,

and a sophisticated air filtration system keeps the entire cabin free of dust.

Key diagnostic information is displayed on a large screen centrally positioned

on the dash. Controls are within easy reach, and often-used switches can be

located on the steering wheel. Since we know you take your music seriously,

each VNM features an advanced audio system with speakers designed and

positioned for optimum sound quality.

SUDDENLY, IT’S A LITTLE EASIER TO LEAVE YOUR HOME.

In a VNM, you’ve got all the space you need. The high ceiling assures plenty

of room to maneuver, and air vents in the sleeper cabs provide cross

ventilation. The sleeper of the VNM 630 offers two fixed bunks plus room for

a microwave, refrigerator and TV/VCR. The VNM 430 has a full-size bunk

and plenty of storage space. And the VNM Daycab gives you extra room

between seats plus storage on the back wall and overhead.
