cook plenty of room to wangle that large soup pot on the back burner. In the corner is a side-by-side sub-zero refrigerator with door panels that match the cabinets and the Corian counter tops. Though not small by any means, the kitchen may not seem as roomy as the rest of the house, but it’s a well laid out and an effi cient workspace. On this fl oor are two bedrooms and a full bath. One of the bedrooms has a sliding glass door that leads out to one of the decks. At the top of a fl ight of stairs is a palace of a master bedroom. It’s big and roomy and has its own cathedral ceiling with a skylight. A sliding glass door leads out to a private balcony. In the hall across from the bathroom are two big closets. The bath has a large walk in shower with a rainfall showerhead. This master suite is quiet and private, and the perfect place to get away from the rest of the family. Back down on the main level I explore the decks. The fi rst one is just off the dining room and the down stairs bedroom. It’s large and roomy with some built in seating, and has a mostly unobstructed view of the slopes. During the summer it would make a prefect outdoor entertaining and eating area. The deck on the other side of the house has a built in hot tub. As we all know, hot tubs are great any time of the year. This contemporary styled home probably has more entertainment and comfort features than most people’s full time homes. With its great views and walking distance to Holiday Valley, it’s a second home in ski country that creates no compromise in comfort, convenience or style. Seven Principals of Effective Leadership

Motivational Inspiration

BY, DR. DIONNE KRESS

As the world changes at an advanced pace it is more important than ever to consider what it takes to develop yourself from a good leader to a great leader. Knowing and understanding the seven principles of leadership are essential to the success of any leader. Appreciation of great leadership starts with building relationships, relationships that are positive, strong, and supportive. In order to become a great leader you need to start with embracing and then practicing the seven principles. They include: listening, self-trust, empowerment of others, resilience, making diffi cult decisions, taking responsibility, and effective communication. Listening: As a leader, it is

important that you listen to what is NOT being said. You need to remain open allowing yourself to hear what is happening around you and not shut yourself off from vital information. Self-trust: Self-trust is essential to remaining confi dent as a great leader. Self-doubt is easily perceived by those around you. This may result in your loss of focus, enthusiasm, and trust. When you are able to trust yourself, your confi dence will be unwavering, and you can then inspire confi dence and enthusiasm in those you lead. Empowerment of others: Being a great leader does not mean that you have to be responsible for and achieve all outcomes yourself. Individuals being led by you are valuable resources and have many strengths that can be capitalized upon. Being a great leader means knowing how to nurture the strengths of others and developing them to achieve their maximum potential. Resilience: Resilience is about being fl exible and agile. When you try to instill too much control, you limit your results and success. Resilience is about emotional strength and vitality, being able to overcome challenges and removing obstacles with ease. Making diffi cult decisions: As a great leader, it is important to realize your decisions will affect the lives of those you lead. Therefore, making diffi cult decisions requires you to be able

to manage your emotions and understand the consequences of those decisions on the lives of others. Great leaders have the ability to hold onto their inner strength, confi dence and courage allowing them to make decisions that are in the best interest of all those involved. Taking responsibility: Being a great leader involves signifi cant responsibility. You have signifi cant responsibility for outcomes and results, in addition to the individuals you are leading. Act accountable and responsible and you will earn respect and trust. Effective communication: Without effective communication, you are likely to remain a good leader and will never aspire into a great leader. Effective communication is the ability to be open and, accepting of the attitudes, ideas, and opinions of others. You have to be empathetic to and understanding of the circumstances of those, you lead. If you can effectively communicate, you will signifi cantly reduce the likelihood of confl icts and misunderstandings. Start your journey today embrace and begin topractice the seven principles of effective leadership. Thiswill move you from being agood leader to a great leader. You will experience success and genuinely enjoy therelationships and of thosearound you.
