There is still time to sign-up to attend. Do it today before you forget. We have had a fantastic year in 2015 with many great tours, outings and swap meet. Our 27 th year should prove to be even more exciting. The 55 th VCCA Anniversary Meet in Lake Tahoe will be a highlight for all that can attend. Yes it is a fur piece but with all those beautiful Chevys, the great VCCA members and spectacular scenery it will surely be an event to treasure. Our display in AutoRama was outstanding. We had 6 really nice old Chevys thanks to the efforts of a large number of SJR members and owners. See the results of the judging elsewhere in the newsletter. Our slate of officers has been set and the election will be held at the Holiday Party. For the Swap Meet we are in need of a Chair who would be responsible for working with Alicia and Carl at Trader’s Village, setting up parts hauling, people to man front, back, and side gates, golf carts, and the supervision of spaces. Carolyn Pierson is the Registrar. The person or persons who volunteer will help make the 2016 Swap Meet as successful as in prior years. After some discussion, the Treasurer’s Report, presented by Chip Sweet was accepted unanimously. Bryan Felt presented the report on Activities. Our Holiday Party will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2015 from 1:30 to 4 PM in the ballroom of the Houston Yacht Club. The price for members is $18 as our Region is subsidizing the event for members only with a discount of $10. (See flyer distributed earlier) Bryan mentioned that the Ship Channel Tour had to be cancelled due to high water making it unsafe to board the ship. He hopes to reschedule next year; reservations are required 2 months in advance. Gary Groschke reported on AutoRama. During this event, our club mingles and goes public with what we do. He passed around sign-up sheet and encouraged everyone to participate. If you are displaying a vehicle you will receive 2 tickets and can come and go throughout AutoRama. Gary gave instructions for those who have vehicles in the show. Volunteers will receive a ball cap and will work on recruitment of new members. A special thanks to our members with vehicles on display: (1) 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo, Les Morrill from Humble “Altered Restored” Category, (2) 1968 Chevy Camaro, Clint Allred, Hempstead, “Restored ’68-‘72”Category, (3) 1931 Chevy P/U Convertible, Chip Sweet, Jones Creek, “Restored Pickup” Category, (4) 1957 Chevy Stepside P/U Don King, Atascocita, “Mild Pickup”Category, (5) 1971 Chevy Convertible, Bruce Miller, Spring, “Custom Convertible” Category, and (6) 1963 Chevy Biscayne 2-door, Gary Groschke, Houston, “Altered Restored”Category. Everyone thanked those who brought dinner for all of us to enjoy. Our meeting adjourned at 8 PM. In attendance at the Nov. 2nd meeting: Clint & Kathy Allred, John Matejka, John Stathakos, Michael Howard, Don & Debbie King, Bryan & Trish Felt, Jim Perry, Malcolm Crawford, Bernice & Frank Melllen, Chip & Cathy Sweet, Ray & Carolyn Pierson, Gary Groschke, Richard Conroy, Rudy Alberth, Hans Rasch, Louie Baumann, Robert & Carolyn Couch, Dan & Marsha Gonzales, and Sheila Bradford.

AutoRama Gary Groschke and his crew transported and partially setup the SJR display at AutoRama on Tuesday, November 24th so everything would be ready for move-in Wednesday, the 25th.. Most of the display was complete except for one vehicle by mid-day. The tardy truck arrived about 5 PM and was quickly ushered, pushed and prodded into place. The display received a second place award this year. We have been “in the money” the past two AutoRamas. Good going team. A number of members volunteered to man the booth (sorry but ed does not have a copy of the list so will not list all that worked for fear of leaving someone out. I am sure that Gary will recognize them as the Christmas Party). It is not known if attending AutoRama for free, the cap or just being able to talk to interested people was the reason to step forward and help. It was an appreciated contribution none the less. Teardown on Sunday 29th went better than some anticipated. Our normal positioning pickups along the curb and loading through the front doors was not possible due to construction at the GRB. Thanks to Clint Allred who supplied the trailer and transportation the crew got it done and back home safely before dark thirty (when ever that is?) The results of the San Jacinto Region participation in AutoRama are in. Six Chevrolets were arranged by Gary Groeschke to populate the SJR booth at AutoRama. In year order 1931 Roadster Pickup, Chip & Cathy Sweet, 1957 Pickup, Don King, 1963 Biscayne, Gary Groschke, 1968 Camaro, Clint Allred, 1970 Monte Carlo, Les Morrill; 1971 Chevelle Malibu Custom Convertible, Bruce Miller.

The SJR has again proven to be a dynamic, eclectic and dedicated group of Chevrolet enthusiasts. We span the entire range of vocations, talents, interests, personalities and abilities. We have somehow melted that into a cohesive group that exemplifies diversity. It was obvious to anyone that spent only a few minutes in the AutoRama booth that we not only enjoy old Chevrolets but also each other. We had some of our newest members spend countless hours helping and working side by side with some grizzled old veterans. I am proud to be a member of the San Jacinto Region of the VCCA.
