This month kicked off with an energetic media campaign focusing on the opening of our stunning new campus at University Square Stratford - by HRH The Princess Royal. The event demonstrated meticulous planning and partnership working. And, as well as attracting more than 300 VIPs to the event, we successfully engaged wider audiences with a dynamic, short online film showcasing our urban dance students, spaces and teaching. The event was captured through our live tweets, Facebook updates, media releases, and a further film of the event showing USS as an impressive, modern destination for ambitious students. Together the two films have received almost 3,000 views and the event received significant coverage across local, regional and specialist media. From Stratford we turned our attentions to India; coordinating a multi-faceted media campaign to support the launch of our new India office, the campaign generated a raft of coverage across the sub continent, supplemented with activity on Facebook, and Twitter, and through advertorials placed in key media, including The Times of India. Five media/press attended the event. In addition, our work generated increased activity around UEL India on Facebook – with more than 300 commenting, liking or sharing the event, and more than 800 seeing the initial post promoting the event. The event management and press and communications activity around our #UELgraduation2013 engaged with students, communities, and media local, nationally and internationally. The seven graduations over 4 days saw almost 4,000 graduands attending for all our schools, cheered on by 7,660 guests. In addition, there were the impressive list of honoraries from Martine Wright, to Sir Charlie Mayfield, Subash Chandra and Dizzee Rascal. We used their profiles to build an engaging media campaign, effectively bringing positive attention to the university and celebrating the success of its students. We were able to drive a record-breaking 10,000 + viewers of the graduations to YouTube, a huge increase on previous years. A carefully targeted approach to media enabled us to attract journalists from international outlets including The Press Association and Zee TV. Media coverage included headlines on the BBC homepage, significant coverage in The Metro, and in The Sun, and high profile retweets of UEL_news content. We are embarked on an intelligence gathering exercise – surveying students and staff about our internal communications and how we can enhance and develop this in the future. Your Universe newsletter is also going through a process of improvement its editorial content. Subtle changes to the tone and content of Universe are already driving more students to it - with a huge 34% increase in unique views this year.
