About LEDucation
LEDucation is the largest LED-only tradeshow and educational forum in the US. Organized by the
Designers Lighting Forum of New York, LEDucation is the ultimate marketplace for solid-state lighting
innovations, giving industry professionals a chance to experience new technologies as well as continue
their education through a wide range of AIA/CEU accredited seminars. LEDucation is a non-profit event,
and its proceeds help stimulate future LED advancements by supporting a variety of grants, scholarships
and lighting programs. http://leducation.org/index.html
About the Designers Lighting Forum of New York
The Designers Lighting Forum of New York is committed to exploring and presenting the power of lighting

Board of Managers and sustained by member dues and the generous support of corporate sponsors.
They enthusiastically provide designers, architects, manufacturers and their representatives, contractors,
educators, and students the opportunity to meet and experience the wonder of lighting in New York City

Educational Initiative
LEDucation courses are eligible for Continuing Education Units (CEU) recognized by many organizations.
The special LEDucation presentations are approved by the American Institute for Architecture (AIA) for
one (1) AIA/CES Learning Unit. Certain courses are approved for 1.5 Learning Units. In order to receive AIA
Learning Units, AIA members must sign the sign-in sheet at the entrance to each presentation and must
indicate their AIA member number. LEDucation is eligible for self-reporting under the NCQLP LEU program,
and other engineering and designer self-reporting continuing education programs.
LEDucation History
In 2006, Peggy Meehan and Bob Nadel of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) met with Burt Grant
of the Designers Lighting Forum (DLF) with an idea for a joint IES/DLF program on new and evolving LEDs
in the lighting industry. They formed a committee and started planning the show to be held on January 17,
2007, which would include both presentations and LED-only exhibits. They were able to get the McGraw
Hill Conference Center and use of the auditorium for the programs presented by Michael Hennes of Cline
Bettridge Bernstein Lighting Design, Howard Mastropiero of Philips Lighting, and Ann Reo of IO Lighting.
The show had 31 exhibitor tables and about 350 attendees. With the show’s success, the question came up
if it would be done again the following year. After getting a terrific response from manufacturers asking to
exhibit at the next show, LEDucation was off and running, with LEDucation II on the horizon.
Since then, LEDucation has grown to showcase over 300+ exhibitors and in 2018, thirty-two accredited
educational presentations will be led by leading industry professionals.
