    3 Home (UK) physical book market The value of the UK physical book market in 2012, at end purchaser prices, is estimated to have been 3.1bn. This was 0.2% higher than in 2011.

    3.3 Library expenditure on books The following table provides expenditure on physical books by the British Library, public libraries, university and higher education college libraries and the school library service (although the there is no update for the latter). Unfortunately there are no statistics for specialist libraries (i.e. libraries in commercial/industrial or non-commercial organisations) and no up to date figures on school library service.
