These people are named after the goddess Danu

The Tuatha de Danann are considered deities, and a greater race than ordinary humans

Even though they were gods and goddesses, the people of the de Danann were not immortal

The Danann arrived on Ireland on May 1st in 1477 BCE.

Tuatha de Danann burned all of their ships to prevent cowards from retreating.

These newcomers were not kindly greeted by the other inhabitants of Ireland

The Tuatha de Danann battled with the Fir Bolgs and Fomorians

The Book of Invasions The Book of invasions is the

story of the Tuatha de Danann and their time spent in Ireland

This story was not written down for several hundred years, but the story was passed down orally

The Book of Invasions…. When the de Danann arrived, Nuada was their

king, and they had to battle with the Fir Bolgs. They easily defeated these people, but Nuada lost his right arm and was forced to give up his kingship. Bres became king and did a poor job because he would not fight against the Fomorians, so Nuada was given a fake arm. He led the Tuatha de Danann into battle and defeated the Fomorians, but was killed by Balor. Lugh, a great young warrior took revenge and killed Balor who was his grandfather. Lugh then became king at a young age. The Tuatha de Danann dominated Ireland until the Milesians defeated them several hundred years later.
