President’s Message

Dear Members,

Several of you have asked how we fared at the July Dinesh D'Souza events. We were all so happy with the movie event and Dinesh's talk and attendance. The Club raised $26,000! These funds will put our club in a great position to host a similar event next year, and give us a great start on scholarships and other educational events in 2016. All our hard work and your support paid off. RWOP rocks! Great job, everyone!

AzFRW Biennial Convention 2015, here we come! What a terrific group of delegates RWOP will have representing our club at the state and national conventions in Phoenix this month. I was impressed by the enthusiasm and commitment displayed at our caucus meeting following the August luncheon. We have a renewed focus on providing leadership and involvement at the state organization. Our delegation is com-

mitted to being positive and welcoming to Republican women from across the nation. We will represent Prescott well, and bring back ideas and connections to help us continue to excel!

Do you have your reservation for our “Glitz Glamour & Girlfriends” Fashion Show? It is going to be a sellout, so get your spot as soon as possible. Barbara Waugh and her team have some fun surprises and we can all just sit back and enjoy a delicious meal, great music and stunning fashions! See you Sunday, September 20, at noon at the Prescott Resort.

Elsie Tyree and I are looking for some helpers at the Yavapai County Fair RWOP booth on October 1-4. We will have a great time selling jewelry, showcasing RWOP and our candidates. This year we are at the Prescott Rodeo Grounds, so join us for a good ole fashion county fair! If you are willing to help us, please send me an email at [email protected] or give me a call at (928) 227-7477.

On November 17, RWOP will host our 2nd annual Tribute to Veterans Luncheon. Every veteran in attendance eats free due to our members’ generosity. At the August luncheon, we collected enough donations to buy lunches for 95 veterans. We hope to double that amount. If you would like to buy a veteran a lunch or two, please send your check to Elsie Tyree at 6875 N. Harris Drive, Prescott, AZ 86305. We are proud to plan this very special program to honor our great veterans.

As I stated at our meeting, RWOP has the best members, best leadership team, and best mission! Thank you for all you do to make our club the very best in the nation.

God bless each and every one of you,

Billie

Americanism Americanism & Federal Issues

What if there was a house in your lovely neighborhood, that turned into a drug house? And what if your chief of police found out that the residents of that house were running a drug ring, and he asks them to check and see if there really is criminal activity going on there, and to report back to him? You would want some accountability, and with good reason!

This is exactly what happened with our Nuclear Deal with Iran. Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry agreed to allow Iran to check any untoward nuclear activity on themselves. According to the Associated Press, "Iran will be allowed to use its own inspectors to investigate its own site at Parchin (an Iranian military complex), which has been accused of developing nuclear arms, and operating under a secret agreement with the UN, that would normally carry out such inspection work."

Republican California Congressman Ed Royce is the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Commit-tee, and called this agreement a "dangerous farce.” America is now finding out that there are a lot of secret “side agreements” that are part of this Iran Nuclear Deal even Congress doesn't know about. This is reminiscent of Nancy Pelosi saying we need to pass Obamacare to see what’s in it! There are senators and representatives from both parties who are totally opposed to this inane deal.

Iran is the most dangerous country in the world right now. Their slogan is (and has always been), "Death to America!" Kerry has even admitted he has not read this agreement in its entirety, and neither has most of Congress. Obama and his ilk must be stopped! Please contact senators John McCain and Jeff Flake and tell them to vote NO on any "deal" with Iran. The phone number you need is: (202) 224 - 3121. Then tell your friends and family members in other towns and states to do the same. We know that our congressman, Paul Gosar, is opposed to this outrage!

By now, most Americans understand that this president cannot be trusted with the safety and security of the United States. Remember when he was running for the office of President, the first time? He said he wanted to "fundamentally change America." Well, this is one time he wasn’t lying.

‘Sons of Liberty’ Patriot, Founding Father...and so much more

Benjamin Rush, an enthusiastic supporter of the American Revolution, was one of the Sons of Liberty and a signer of the Declaration of Independence. But there was more to this man as our fledging country was taking shape.

He helped found five universities, led both the abolition of slavery and prison reform movements, and founded American Sunday Schools and the nation’s first Bible Society having been raised a Quaker.

Rush had a major impact on the emerging American medical profession. He was committed to organizing all medical knowledge around explanatory theories, as opposed to empirical methods. He said that illnesses were the result of imbalances in the body and were caused by malfunctions in the brain. As such, he is considered one of founders of American psychiatry. He encouraged public health by promoting a clean environment and stressed the importance of personal and military hygiene.

When we think of our Founding Fathers, many times we think their only job was to form this great nation. In fact, many of these men took to returning to their livelihoods after the Revolution, just as Dr. Rush did.
