On Sunday, April 15 th we’ll begin a new sermon series called: What’s Faith Got to Do with It? and for the four weeks following that we’ll talk about the ways that it shapes our relationships, our work, our finances, and our future. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians will be our guide as we move through this series, so I’d like to encourage you to join me in reading the entire book – all 6 chapters – during the month of April. It’s a letter full of encouragement for a church community that was facing pressures from within and without, and I think it will be encouragement for us as we face many of those same pressures today. Paul begins his letter saying, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realm with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” You see, our faith in Christ makes a difference right here and right now – our faith can guide us through life’s ups and downs, it can shape our relationships with one another, it can bring meaning to our work, it can help us be good stewards of all that we’ve been given, and it can remind us of the hope and future we have through Him. I’m excited about beginning this series and I hope that you’ll join us either in person or online as we dig deeper. May this Spring be a season of growing in grace and faith together! NOTE FROM PASTOR REBECCA

Following Easter, we will be digging deeper into the ways that our Christian faith shapes the way we live life, make decisions, and build relationships. On Sunday,

April 15th we’ll begin a new sermon series called: What’s Faith Got to Do with It? and for the four weeks following that we’ll talk about the ways that it shapes our relationships, our work, our finances, and our future. Paul begins his letter saying, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who

has blessed us in the heavenly realm with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” You see, our faith in Christ makes a difference right here and right now – our faith can guide us through life’s ups and downs, it can shape our relationships with one another, it can bring meaning to our work, it can help us be good stewards of all that we’ve been given, and it can remind us of the hope and future we have through Him. I’m excited about beginning this series and I hope that you’ll join us either in person or online as we dig deeper. May this Spring be a season of growing in grace and faith together! Breakfast Club- Sunday School 10:30am Christianity, Cults, and Religion by Paul Cardin is the next study the Breakfast Club will be doing. By comparing Christianity with groups such as Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses, people have a better grasp about what the Bible says about who Jesus is and the message of the Gospel. It explains the beliefs of the most common world religions and cultic groups: Islam, Buddism, Hinduism, Mormonism, Jehovah's Wit-nesses and other groups. All adults are welcome. Wednesday Evening Bible Study -6:30pm. Reading through & having lively discussions about “Acts of the Apostles.” No textbook but the Bible. No homework. Drop in welcome. Knit and Sew- This group has been busy making and donating items to the commu-nity. 3 baby blankets were given to YES. 20 baby hats, 25 flannel blan-kets, 7 fleece hats, 23 gowns 1 knitted sack and 5 bibs were given to Sewing for Babies. COPE received 12 flannel blankets, 4 knit blankets, and 3 fleece blankets. This group of awesome ladies continues to knit, crochet and sew for the less fortunate in our community. All ladies are invited to join them. Book Club- Join Us, May 7, 6:30pm at Scooters Coffee House. The Book discussion is To the Bright Edge of the World by Eowyn Ivey

Native American Ministries Special Offering – Sunday, April 15th Today, Native Americans with many unique languages, many unique cultures honor their heritage, and live as Jesus-followers, led by a rotation of primarily Native American pastors. Through Native American Ministries Sunday, we’re able to equip and empower Native American pastors, congregations and seminary students to do what only they can do: authentically worship and serve Jesus. When you support Native American Ministries Sunday, you equip seminary students who will honor and cele-brate Native American culture in their ministries, and you empower congregations that are finding fresh new ways to minister to their communities with the love of Christ. Join us on Sunday, April 15th as we offer our gifts to support this life-changing and life-giving ministry of the United Methodist Church!

TRUSTEE TIDBITS…

Here’s a tidbit of trivia from the Trustees: • Our doors open wide each Sunday morning welcoming the congregation full of friends, family, neighbors

and guests. • Those same doors continue to open every day of the week. • Did you know that in a typical week at EHUMC the following groups use our facilities? Boy Scout Troop #357, new Cub Scout Pack, Kindermusik (3 days a week), EHUMC preschool (5 days a week), Parent’s day out (3 days a week), 6 different basketball teams, volleyball team, Pickle ball, Financial Peace University, Knit and Sew, UMM, Choir practice, hand bell practice, Youth gatherings, bible studies, prayer groups, Children’s, youth & adult Sunday school classes, meetings and more meeting. Thru out the year we also host Funeral lunches, Baptismal lunches, Weddings & receptions, Pinewood derbies, election polling, musical recitals and Lego University…maybe we need to install a revolving door!

If our building was used only once a week, it would be easy to maintain it with such “light” use. But, that’s not God’s intent. Being good stewards of our building means using it to its full potential and taking care of it too. It takes a village…no a congregation! SAVE THE DATE…JULY 29TH “Elkhorn Hills Serves” one special service and one special day of service. Join the entire congregation for fun, fellowship, food and fixin’s (building fixing that is!) More informa-tion to come soon. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58

able to provide any financial assistance to help with their decorations, we do try to provide volunteers during

the decoration making process. They will start meeting every Thursday, starting on April 4th from

11am-1pm. Lunch will be provided. If you are able to help, even if it is for an hour, please do. This is a great

relationship between churches and we would like to provide as much help as we can as a congregation. If you

ANNUAL GARAGE SALE

Tis the season for spring cleaning! We already have a pile of donations for the annual Church Garage Sale, do you? If you have furniture to donate, we have a complimen-tary storage unit at Dino’s. (Thank you, Dino’s!) Call or text Sandy Lozier (402-201-6792) or LuAnn Dritley (402-689-1083) for more information. We can only accept furniture this early in 2018. Garage Sale - Wednesday, August 15 - Saturday, August 18. We start accepting smaller donations August 3. Remember - We cannot accept any child safety items such as car seats or baby cribs. We are also unable to accept large appliances such as washers and dryers or the older ‘tube’ type TV’s. AND we cannot accept the old TV cabinets or large sofas with recliners in them as we have in the past. They are heavy and difficult to sell. Even thrift stores are reluctant to take them.

In addition, if you haven't worked at the garage sale before or if you are new to the church, we are always looking for volunteers to help. There are jobs for every-one....from advance planning and sorting of donations to working the sale days themselves to clean up.

Please see Sandy or LuAnn if interested.
