• The ten year war came around after Paris of Troy stole the wife of Menelaus, the king of Sparta.

Map of the Trojan War
• The Trojan War started because of a feud between three goddesses: Athena, Hera, and Aphrodite.
• The goddess of strife and discord, Eris, gave them a golden apple that was marked to be “for the fairest”.
• The goddesses went to Paris, the king of Troy, who judged Aphrodite as the fairest.
• Because of this, Aphrodite made Helen fall in love with Paris and he took her back to Troy.
• Since Agamemnon was Menelaus’ brother, he led his Achaean troops to attack Troy.
The Trojan Horse•The walls of Troy were very strong, so the Achaeans developed a master plan to overcome this obstacle.•Odysseus had a large, hollow, wooden horse built.•He and some of his Greek warriors stayed inside while the rest of them left to deceive the Trojans.•Sinon pretended to be angry and told the Trojans he was left behind and that the horse was safe and would bring luck.
