Calculating the semester average: Each 9-weeks average accounts for 40% and the final exam counts the remaining 20% of the overall semester average. Finish strong these last few weeks. As we get closer to the end of the semester, remember that the expectation is to pass all classes. If you receive less than a 70 in a class required for graduation, you will need to attend summer school or night school to recover that credit. The Lee County School System fosters relationships through diverse,

challenging, and quality educational experiences that cultivate successful citizens.

Registration information: We are currently hard at work making final decisions on course offerings for LCHS during the 22-23 school year. The counselors will do classroom guidance with all students in the next couple of weeks. We will also offer multiple opportunities to meet virtually during December to answer your questions about registration. Please look for more info the first part of December regarding the dates and times. If you have registration questions, contact Mr. Knight at [email protected]. Dual enrollment: All students that are interested in taking Dual Enrollment classes for the first time during Fall 2022-2023 school year must watch a mandatory video with their parents and answer the questions at the end by completing the form. This video takes the place of the mandatory meeting. To get access to the video, use your email account and click this link: Mandatory Dual Enrollment Parent/Student Informational Session

After you have completed the video and questions, Mrs. Ashley Brown will schedule you for a Dual Enrollment registration appointment when the registration period begins. You will be notified of your registration appointment in January. The deadline to watch this video is January 4th. New Dual enrollment students will need to take the SAT/ACT by January 4th to be eligible for Dual enrollment Fall 2022-2023.

Guidelines/rules. If you have two courses in the same department (2 sciences), you

will take one on the scheduled day and one on the makeup day.

2. All courses will have a final exam. The exam is cumulative and counts for 20%

of the student’s final average for the current semester.

3. Only students meeting the exemption policy are eligible to be exempt (PBiS

initiative). Our exemption policy is in place to reward the students who meet

the criteria outlined in the student handbook.

a. Exemption Policy: Students may exempt semester exams for sub-

jects in which exemption criteria are met. The criteria for exemption

eligibility are as follows:

Class Average Absences

Passing 5 or fewer

Students assigned in-school suspension or out-of-school suspension

are not eligible for exemption. For the purpose of exemptions only,

two unexcused tardies equal one absence. Absences that are ex-

cused by the Co-Curricular, Military, Non-Instructional days or Ad-

ministrative days do not count against the student for exemption

purposes. All other absences count for exemption purposes

(Medical, Legal, Excused & Unexcused). Students exempting exams

will receive the average of their two nine weeks for the semester

exam grade. Your attendance is in the portal

b. EOC , EOPA, AP courses are not eligible for exemption.

c. Only the classroom teacher can confirm if a student meets the crite-

ria outlined.

d. Students do not have to be present during the exam they are ex-

empting, UNLESS they are already in the building and have no way

home during the exam period. Teachers will mark students absent

during the exam if they were required to take the assessment and

were absent. An exemption will not be revoked due to a marking of

“absent” during the final exam time. We will not count/take

attendance during the review session times. However, if a student

is on the campus, they will need to be in the appropriate locations.

4. Students must be on time for each exam. Tardy students may receive a zero

for the exam. Students may arrive early and wait in the cafeteria.

5. The dress code will be enforced.

6. Bus transportation will be provided as normal - before and after school.

7. Students will not be required to check-in/out during the exam days. If stu-

dents have their parents’ permission to leave campus, they will need to com-

municate alternate transportation times prior to arrival. The front office will

not be allowed to contact classrooms during the day due to various testing

situations. Students will not be allowed to leave a testing room until the end

of the scheduled class time.
