• King Ferdinand and Queen Lisabella paid

• Columbus bought 3 ships Nina Pinta, Santa Maria took 90 men

Voyage 3

• Columbus called the people Indians because he thought he landed in the Indies , He actually landed on the Caribbean island , near America , landed on Hispaniola – left 39 men there.

Voyage 4

• 1478 – Sailed into the Atlantic Ocean; one to Ireland and one to the island of Madeira.

Voyage 5

• 1481- making voyages down Coast of

Portuguese west Africa.

• During this time he learned the science of Ocean Navigation
