Rhino horns are made of keratin which is the same stuff your nails are made of. Manypeople incorrectly think that the horn is made of matted hair. This is completely incorrect!

Yucky bread!

We all know how yucky stale bread is! But it is not because it is dry that it is stale – it is the opposite.It is because it has absorbed moisture from the air. This makes it go tough and crumbly and sometimes mouldy. If you live close to the coast where the air is damp you will have staler bread than those living in dry places inland. (Durban sarmies go staler more quickly than Joburg sarmies!)

NOW YOU KNOW!

Wolves do NOThowl at the moon. They are merely communicating with other wolves over long distances. But because they are active at night, they howl more in the dark. Hence theidea that they are howling at theyellow object inthe sky!

THE TOOTH TRUTHNot every adult has 32 teeth. When your baby teeth fall out and are replaced by adult teeth you should get 16 top teeth and 16 bottom teeth. Four of these teeth are late arrivals called Wisdom teeth, but many thousands of people never get them at all. So these people only have 28 adult teeth. (Check with all the adults you know to see how many teeth they have!)
