Our Kampala offices are plot 37/4, Portbell Road and our farm offices are P.O Box 82 Kiruhura, Bwesharire

Tomosi’s Farm, the oldest of the units in the group begun in 1964 at a small peasant holding in South western Uganda and has grown into one of the leading milk production and processing farms in the country. In partnership with a private equity fund, TFBL has an installed processing capacity of 100,000 liters of milk daily from over 200 farmers in the area. Our flagship brand is called Milkman.

The total investment so far in milk production is over USD15m and the company is now making a strong effort, working with Beef world, a Chinese meat company, to set up a beef plant in South western Uganda. The farm also has a strategic partnership with the Mountains of the Moon University for training and upgrading of skills both for farmers and farm workers

and in future, plans to set up an agricultural institute, The Tomosi Farm Institute, for the community. This will fulfill the vision of the founders which is that Africa must produce its own food and export to the world and bring manufacturing, training and skills development along with product design and development from cities to rural areas. This will stimulate production and create employment for young people.

Our Tree planting and production programmeThe farm has been growing both medicinal and grandis eucalyptus trees along with gravellier and Terminalia species in all its satellite farm from 1997. However, as far back as 1968, the founders of the farm, the late Tomosi and Erina Rwabwogo, were planting avocados, fruits

and fruit trees including mangoes, oranges and some traditional ficus high drought resistance trees. This was meant to keep both the farm well protected from the strong July winds and to provide natural organic food to the people of the area. This tradition, the farm has kept and in Kakururu farm, Musubiro, Lwengo district, Tomosi’s farm has over 70 acres of Eucalyptus, planted five years ago and maturing in 2019 for harvest. In Rweyazya farm near Lake Mburo, 25 acres of Eucalyptus has been planted and at Bwesharire farm headquarters, over 60,000 seedlings have been produced, some planted at the farm and some 40,000 given out to farmers in the surroundings to teach them the values of tree growing. In total, Tomosi’s farm has over 200 acres of own planted trees and hundreds more with farmers that supply the processing plant with milk.

Our Philosophy about tree planting is encapsulated in our Group values as a business. Trees are one of the seven values in our business because they represent planning for tomorrow, a sign of good leadership. A natural outgrowth of our tree planting and production programme over the years, has been the processing of offcuts, trunk barks and saw dust to provide biomass for companies and institutions that require wood energy. This helps the expanding agricultural need to use coffee husks and other manure yielding options, to not compete with the energy needs of companies.
